Politically disagreeing

To the editor: I enjoy the letters to the editor column. I try my best to understand the reasoning of many letter writers. Mr. Eddie Abdalla’s recent letter (Enough with the hate-filled rhetoric, April 6) set me to thinking how he sees the political landscape. I must say very different than mine and apparently 72 percent of Jefferson County voters. I doubt my counter opinions will have any affect on his views. He states the border issue is complicated. Why? There are laws on the books governing this. What’s so complicated about calling people breaking our law entering America ...

Hyperbole, rhetoric or facts? You decide.

To the editor: A recent letter by the chairman of the Jefferson County Democratic Party was a rebuttal to the “deeply misguided and one-sided portrayal of the Democratic Party and its policies” by another writer. Here are my thoughts on some of those policies. The chairman states that “the criticism of Joe Biden, Hunter and various political figures is hyperbole that clouds facts”. It is a fact that Biden was not mentally fit to be president, something that we saw with our own eyes. Who was running the country for those 4 years? Biden’s DOJ attempted to prosecute Donald ...

Keep the tell-alls coming

To the editor: Don’t stop the presses! Keep printing the tell-all books about Joe Biden. Biden’s inner circle revealing how incompetent he was and what they did to conceal it from us, using make-up, tape arrows on the floor to direct Biden, assigned interns to guide him about. Why would anyone believe or trust a Democrat or the media again? How quick the Democrat worm turns. One year ago Elon Musk was the Democrats’ hero, now he’s their most hated man because he’s reducing government work force, saving taxpayers billions of dollars by exposing fraud, corruption, waste, theft. ...

The economy of an insurrectionist

To the editor; As the U.S. stock market experienced an historic decline on April 4, as a result, without question, of the massive global tariffs that President Donald J. Trump has arbitrarily imposed on our trading partners, causing much concern and consternation throughout our great country, as well as the world, President Trump quite disturbingly, but in pure Trumpian fashion, decided to take the rest of the day and the weekend off in order to indulge himself by playing golf, which was very disrespectful and troubling, indeed. President Trump’s recent aforementioned actions, ...

Petrella the choice

To the editor: The Steubenville primary election will take place on Tuesday, May 6, 2025. It is my honor to recommend Ralph Petrella for the position of Mayor for the City of Steubenville. I have known Ralph for 20 years, on both a personal and professional level. Ralph has consistently impressed me with his understanding and respect for everybody he encounters. His integrity and leadership will be a great addition to the City of Steubenville. Ralph has demonstrated a strong commitment to local community development, fiscal responsibility and public service. He is a volunteer with ...
