Eller run a success

To the editor: The annual Dusty Eller Memorial Poker Run was held Aug. 12. Even though the weather was bad, there was a good turnout. I want to thank Mark Battistel, Erin Kain, Matt Lumpkin and Amber Lumpkin for organizing the event. They also provided and cooked all of the food, which was delicious. Also, thank you to all of the volunteers: Amanda Coldabella, Sue Travis, Christen Tustin, Anthony Dustolfo, Gene Wells and Chris Frazee. To all of the businesses and individuals who donated prizes and money, thank you so much. It is greatly appreciated. Registration was ...

This was an interesting week

To the editor: This week was an interesting week to say the least! First, Ohio citizens looked at the facts and not the scare tactics and wisely voted no on Issue 1, which keeps the power in the people’s hands where it belongs. Thank you to all Ohio citizens who voted for truth and not fear mongering by out-of-state dark money. Second, was the August meeting of the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County. Once again the issue being discussed in the public comment session dealt with LGBTQIA+ books and those who demand they be removed. The book ban crowd keeps ...

Last fall, they voted not to have any more special elections in August because of low turnout and expense. Then they decided to change their mind because we the people had signed petitions to put an issue on the ballot in November. They knew their laws on hold wouldn’t pass an election. Secretary of State Frank LaRose told a very small group in Steubenville a few weeks ago it would stop ...

However, many question how a growing EV fleet will impact our country and if the U.S. is ready for that kind of major transition. A major component to this transition is how these vehicles will be powered. Ohio is making strides to offer charging stations to drivers, but more will ...

President Joe Biden claimed that we are in a climate crisis which is the greatest existential threat to our world. Kamala Harris stated that we need to work together to decrease the population which will lead to clean air and water. John Kerry claims the climate crisis is man-made from carbon emissions. Pete Buttigieg blames severe weather on the climate crisis. A group of scientists are studying Crawford Lake in Ontario, Canada, where they claim ...

Reading program again a success
