Eller run a success
To the editor:
The annual Dusty Eller Memorial Poker Run was held Aug. 12.
Even though the weather was bad, there was a good turnout.
I want to thank Mark Battistel, Erin Kain, Matt Lumpkin and Amber Lumpkin for organizing the event. They also provided and cooked all of the food, which was delicious.
Also, thank you to all of the volunteers: Amanda Coldabella, Sue Travis, Christen Tustin, Anthony Dustolfo, Gene Wells and Chris Frazee.
To all of the businesses and individuals who donated prizes and money, thank you so much. It is greatly appreciated.
Registration was provided by Greg Moray of Affordable Automotive. Other stops included Rutt’s Cross Creek Tavern, LaPizza, J.P.’s Saloon and Hopedale American Legion Post 682. The run ended at Wintersville American Legion Post 557.
Finally, to all who rode their motorcycles through the thunder, lightning and rain, you did so to honor my son, Dusty Eller.
I’m sure he was riding along with his brothers and sisters and smiling the whole time. If and when you think of him, just smile for all of the fun and memories you shared.
All proceeds will go to the A.L.I.V.E. Shelter — much gratitude to all.
