To the editor:
We the people have spoken.
Thank heaven the sane people got out and voted. Issue One was based on a bunch of lies that the Republican Party thought it could get away with.
Last fall, they voted not to have any more special elections in August because of low turnout and expense. Then they decided to change their mind because we the people had signed petitions to put an issue on the ballot in November. They knew their laws on hold wouldn't pass an election.
Secretary of State Frank LaRose told a very small group in Steubenville a few weeks ago it would stop out-of-state money from coming in to change laws. But, what would the Republicans do without out-of-state-money? They received $1.1 billion from Richard Eihlein of Wisconsin to encourage them to put this issue on as a special election in August.
More than 3 million people woke up and got out and voted to protect our democracy.
Then they said it will "protect the constitution." Is changing the constitution protecting it? This all boils down to suppressing the will of the people because they know they can't win. The Republican Party used to be respectable and honest. But since 2016, when the king of lies appeared, they have taken on the conspiracy theories, lying, deceit and brainwashing that seamed to work for him. Is lying acceptable to you by a kind of person you want running our state and country?
Just remember that brainwashing is a choice. You can believe their lies or you can think for yourself and find out what the truth really is.
