To the editor:
Every day during the month of July we were told that it was the hottest July in recorded history due to climate change. President Joe Biden claimed that we are in a climate crisis which is the greatest existential threat to our world. Kamala Harris stated that we need to work together to decrease the population which will lead to clean air and water. John Kerry claims the climate crisis is man-made from carbon emissions. Pete Buttigieg blames severe weather on the climate crisis.
A group of scientists are studying Crawford Lake in Ontario, Canada, where they claim there is proof that humans have negatively impacted the environment. New York state has outlawed gas stoves and is transitioning its power plants to make them carbon-free and nuclear-free, with the expense being paid by the taxpayers. People who believe in the climate crisis commit destructive acts on public and private property. Why are these changes being made before there are suitable products to replace them? Why don't the climate crisis zealots care about the impact on the residents who may not be able to afford the cost? Where is the actual scientific proof that our world will not exist in a few years?
Bjorn Lomberg of the Copenhagen Consensus Center studied the economic impact of climate change policies. He compiled statistics on phenomena such as hurricanes and wildfires.
Climate zealots claim these have increased and were caused by the climate crisis. His statistics showed that deaths from hurricanes and wildfires have decreased. This is due to technology to predict these events so that people can take precautions prior to the events. He discussed the costly damages associated with climate policies. These climate policies could lead to financial ruin for countries and their citizens.
In a recent column, Betsy McCaughey described the changes that politicians are imposing on the citizens of New York state that will lead to financial ruin for many citizens, especially the working class and the poor. She quoted energy titan Harold Hamm who wrote "I'm not against renewables. I'm against dismantling the current system for another system that doesn't exist yet."
This is exactly what Biden and the climate crisis zealots are trying to impose on us. Let's compare their approach to remodeling your home. You decide to remodel your kitchen and your bathroom. You demolish the kitchen and the bathroom and then try to make a plan for the rooms. Then you attempt to purchase the materials, which may not be available for several months. You have no functioning kitchen and bathroom because you have not planned or made arrangements to get the materials before you demolished those rooms. This is Biden's climate crisis policy -- demolish the resources we use and leave us with costly "climate-friendly" products that may not function efficiently.
Our only hope to stop this destruction of our country in the name of climate crisis is to elect leaders who represent all the people, instead of representing only the climate crisis zealots.
