Chaos under Joe Biden

To the editor: How are we doing with the Biden administration in charge? Inflation, open borders, wars breaking out all over the globe and more. Biden wants to be president for four more years. How is his health? Why does Medicare require that I have periodic cognitive tests, which I always pass, but Biden refuses to take a cognitive test? Why does he mumble and garble his words? Why does he stumble and wander aimlessly? How about Kamala Harris? Did you hear her speech about community banks? Did you know that community banks are run by people in a community, employ people in a ...

Lacking trust, obedience

To the editor: I declare at the onset that I am writing as an Episcopal priest. In our musical repertoire the old-fashioned Gospel song, “Trust and Obey,” was not a song we turned to, practically at all. But as I listened to several news channels over the past few weeks, it occurred to me that one of the all-encompassing issues with politics in America is a lack of trust and a revolt against obedience — two key words in that song. It appears that the United States as a nation has lost a great deal of obedience in the behaviors of its people, without regard to age. Gangs in ...

Local residents offered help

To the editor: My daughter and I planned a biking trip from Coraopolis, Pa., to Weirton through the Montour and Panhandle trails. The ride was fabulous — we passed by streams, small towns and beautiful nature. When we pulled into Weirton, it was already getting dark. While trying to figure out how we would bike safely from the trailhead to our hotel, we met a human angel. Sheila, a lovely life-long resident of Weirton and schoolteacher, who saved us by getting us a ride from the trail up to our lodging. Her neighbor, Dave, was our chariot of safety, transporting us. It was a ...

Biden has no accomplishments

To the editor: June 12’s letters to editor by Democrats, progressives, whatever they call themselves now, were funny and sad. One writer said they’ll vote for Joe Biden because he’s the lesser of two evils. That’s admitting Biden is evil. Another made an attempt at poetry. He begs “... with any luck he’ll (Trump) will be put away.” You notice he didn’t ask God for guidance. When one is an atheist all you can depend on is luck. The other letter is pure dribble, never once referring to Biden’s accomplishments. Oh, that’s right, there are none. You can’t talk ...

Death is imminent

To the editor: Born in 1935, father dies in 1941. Five brothers fought in World War II, all made it back home. Fear of death for a loved one, not understanding the time will come when pain’s too great for everyone to negotiate one’s heavenly fate. Never fear, Jesus is near. If not, things will get hot. Constitution or cult

To the editor: During the Supreme Court oral arguments on presidential immunity, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson conferred … if the most powerful person in the world (the U.S. president) would go into the Oval Office knowing there would be no penalty for committing crimes, what disincentive is there to turning the Oval Office into a seat of criminal activity in this country? The Supreme Court is still weighing a determination on the subject of immunity. Recently, right-wing lawyers and scholars filed a brief disqualifying Trump from running for president because of his clinging to ...
