Fire at Eagle Manufacturing under investigation
WELLSBURG – A fire at the Eagle Manufacturing facility Wednesday afternoon is under investigation.
“One of the plastics machines caught fire,” reported Wellsburg Fire Chief Scott Kins, who noted the fire was contained to the area of the machine. “The sprinkler system in the building was operational and deployed.”
Damage was limited to the machine itself and its electronics, and no injuries were reported, Kins said.
In addition to Wellsburg, firefighters from Franklin, Follansbee, Hooverson Heights, McKinleyville, and Brilliant responded to the scene.
Traffic was temporarily closed in some areas around the facility, including on Charles Street between 22nd and 25th streets, and on 22nd Street from Yankee Street to Charles Street, with assistance from Brooke County Emergency Management and crews from the City of Wellsburg.
