Accountability must prevail

To the editor: Former President Donald J. Trump continues to show his total lack of respect for the rule of law, as well as the United States Constitution, which has been on full display throughout his long career in business, as well as his tenure in the White House, and continues unabated to this day. Trump, who has long exhibited a mob-boss mentality, also exhibits a shocking authoritarian approach to government, consistently lavishing praise upon authoritarian rulers of the present day, as well as throughout history. Even while president, Trump often heaped unwarranted ...

Albaugh has earned support

To the editor: I have lived in Steubenville for most of my life in the First Ward. Two of my children still live here, too. In my time here, I have seen few men who are as active in the community as David Albaugh. He has dedicated his life to improving Steubenville and the First Ward, and it usually comes at his own expense. He does things like mows lawns for the elderly, cuts down trees that are blocking the way up to Lincoln Heights, walks and cleans the hill, cuts city lots and helps keep Beatty Park maintained and manicured. With a group, he repaired a historical bridge in ...

Gorman right choice for council

To the editor: I’m writing this letter to endorse Ted Gorman for Steubenville’s Fifth Ward Councilman. I’ve known him for years and believe that he’ll be an asset to the city of Steubenville. He’s honest and well-educated and will make a great councilman. So, I’d like to urge my family and friends and fellow Steelworkers to please vote for Ted Gorman for Fifth Ward councilman on Nov. 7. Vote yes on Issue 1

To the editor: Issue 1 would establish a constitutional right to an individual’s autonomy over reproductive decisions, including birth control, fertility treatment and abortion. Issue 1 allows for abortion before the point of “fetal viability.” Fetal viability is the point in pregnancy when the fetus has a significant likelihood of survival outside the uterus. This is generally considered to be 23-24 weeks of gestation. It further provides legal protections to any person, including doctors, who assists a person with ...

Albaugh right choice in First Ward

To the editor: I am writing in support of David Albaugh for the First Ward seat on Steubenville City Council. I have known him for more than 40 years. He is a family man, and a hard-working, honest and caring man. He has countless hours volunteering in this community in the First Ward as well as the entire city. Albaugh serves on the Steubenville Recreation Board and has attended City Council meetings for years. I urge all First Ward residents to vote for Dave Albaugh for council on Nov. 7. Make sure you vote Nov. 7

To the editor: Every November, whether it be an even numbered year when we elect our president, members of Congress, governor and other statewide offices, as well as countywide elected offices, or the odd numbered years when we elect our local and municipal officers, every November is important in selecting those who will govern us. The odd numbered years, such as this year, often get overlooked by our fellow citizens, but sometimes, these elections can be more important than the even numbered years as we elect our mayors, city council, township trustees, etc. These elections can ...
