State of the union

To the editor: It has been a couple weeks since Biden delivered his State of the Union Campaign Speech. Let’s review some of the highlights. Biden left the White House late and after a lengthy walk down the aisle, finally started his speech at 9:26 pm. Biden had definitely been given some pharmaceuticals as he was “high.” His walk down the aisle was carefully choreographed so that he took one or two steps then stopped the whole way down, thus keeping him from falling. His speech was written with 80 one-liners with exclamation points to elicit applause, which gave him time ...

Questions about Biden

To the editor: Her name is Laken, Joe — not Lincoln — Riley. Laken is Biden’s and Democrats’ illegal aliens nightmare legacy along with the recent death of a 2-year-old Maryland boy, New York City cop beatings, shootings in Times Square, the killing of a Washington state trooper — all allegedly committed by illegal aliens. The United Nations declared the United States/Mexican border as the most dangerous in the world. Let’s ask Sherrod Brown to defend the open border policy and why it’s good for Ohio. U.S. Rep. Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., says illegals are needed to pick ...

An impartial chat

To the editor: Donald Trump keeps asserting that he’s being mistreated by Biden’s administration, even going so far as comparing himself to an imprisoned and probably slain political foe of Vladimir Putin. The assertion Trump makes is that all of his current legal issues are political retribution, and nothing more. One of the things he calls a “witch hunt” is his treatment in the top-secret documents debacle concerning sensitive papers he secreted to Mar-a-Lago on his way out of office. The response from the left is that it’s not political. Any former president who stole ...

It’s time to pave Johnson Road

To the editor: I agree with the letter to the editor written by James C. Boulson that Johnson Road, which leads from Sunset Boulevard to Trinity Medical Center West, is in terrible shape (“Road needs to be fixed,” March 10.) This essential, frequently-used road is in need of a complete resurfacing. Last October, I was transported by ambulance from the emergency room of Trinity West to a hospital in Pittsburgh for surgery. The two fellows from the ambulance service and I made several jokes about the bumpy condition of Johnson Road as we drove away from the hospital, trying to ...

Politicians show they don’t care

To the editor: On March 9, Local 2911 of the United Steelworkers held a rally to protest the ruling of four members of the ITC committee that was to consider the impact on U.S. industry on the dumping of tin and found it was not harmful. This was announced on Feb. 6. As a result, Cleveland-Cliffs, and Lourenco Goncalves, its chairman, president and chief executive officer, have decided to “indefinitely” idle the plant in April. The dumping case was filed in January 2023 and called for dumping by eight countries. The Commerce Department concluded that four countries — Canada, ...

Code enforcement is what’s needed

To the editor: There were two days of discussions regarding Neighborhood Conservation Districts, one with the Planning and Zoning Commission and one with City Council, and the real problem in this city was never mentioned. The real problem, at least in my neighborhood, is lack of code enforcement. If codes were actually enforced throughout the city, there would be no distinction between a home-owned property and a rental property. Everyone would have to abide by the same rules, and that is the solution that rids accusations of minority racism. My neighborhood is not one of the 25 ...
