Edison volleyball team tops Weir High in four sets
RICHMOND — The Edison volleyball team took the first two sets from visiting Weir High and, after the Red Riders were able to stay alive in the third set, closed things out in the fourth for a 25-19, 29-27, 22-25, 25-14 victory.
For Edison, Rebecka Evans tallied 21 assists, five points, an ace, eight kills, two digs and three blocks, Alexandra Ash recorded 17 kills, two digs, two blocks, eight points and five aces, Kenda Teichman tallied 14 digs, Faith Bell racked up 12 points, four aces and eight digs, Meghan Maxwell had 14 points, five aces, five kills and 10 digs and Hailey Teichman recorded 17 assists, six points, four kills and seven digs.
For the Red Riders, Mea Kaufman tallied six kills, 11 assists, 14 digs and a block, Janai Turner recorded four aces and 22 digs, Maleea Faulks tallied 11 kills, five digs, a block and two block assists and Brayley Lash had eight kills, three aces, two blocks and two block assists.
Edison is back in action Saturday morning, hosting Carrollton. Weir High plays in the Oak Glen tournament on Saturday morning.
Big Red bests Minerva
STEUBENVILLE — The Big Red volleyball team improved its record to 3-0 by taking a five set win over visiting Minerva inside the Crimson Center on Thursday night.
Big Red trailed in the match 0-1 and 2-1 before winning the fourth and fifth sets to take the win, 21-25, 25-21, 23-25, 25-23, 15-12.
Sena Smith recorded four aces, eight kills, five digs and eight points, Kayla Biasi racked up 24 digs and seven points, Sarah Allen recorded seven aces, 10 kills, 19 digs, a block and 11 points, Julia Arlesic tallied 10 digs and three points, Kaitlyn Smith added three aces, a kill, 14 points and 46 assists, Tejah Montogomery recorded five aces, 11 kills, six digs and nine points, Emma Lyons tallied seven kills and Analesa Perdue recorded 10 kills and five blocks.
Big Red travels to Martins Ferry on Saturday.
Creek tops Cambridge
CAMBRIDGE — The Indian Creek volleyball team went on the road and swept Cambridge to improve to 2-0 Thursday evening, 25-22, 25-18, 25-6.
Allison McGraw recorded two aces and three digs, Tori Robertson tallied three aces, nine kills, a block and 10 digs, Camryn Ketron recorded two assists, four kills and 11 digs, Reese Scott tallied 15 assists, seven aces and eight digs and Kylie Anderson recorded six kills and nine digs.
Creek travels to Big Red on Tuesday.
Knights top Crusaders
TORONTO — The Toronto volleyball team pushed its record to 3-0 with a four set win over Catholic Central at home on Thursday, recovering from losing the first set to win the final three, 20-125, 25-13, 25-8, 25-8.
Hannah Dobbs tallied 28 kills, 14 digs, four assists and three aces, Andrea Reeves racked up 40 assists, two aces and eight digs, Jayna Reeves recorded six kills and two blocks, Ashton Thomas recorded eight aces, four kills and three blocks, Michelle Anderson had 24 digs, Callie Anderson recorded five kills and five aces and Gracee Rex added 15 digs.
Toronto travels to Buckeye Local on Monday.
Huskies top Ferry in 5
CADIZ — The Harrison Central volleyball team fended off Martins Ferry for a five set win on Thursday, 16-25, 25-22, 25-18, 21-25, 17-15.
Lauren Doane tallied 15 kills and four blocks for the Huskies, while Maddie Zeroski had nine kills, Audrey Corder had eight kills, Olivia Tonkovich netted 17 assists, Leah Grady tallied 16 assists, Kennedy Dunlap recorded 21 points and Nessa Culver had 12 digs.
The Huskies are at Union Local on Monday.
BOYS SOCCER
Linsly edges Big Red
WHEELING — The Big Red boys soccer team dropped a 3-2 decision to Linsly on the road Thursday.
Cole Bowers and Luke Dinovo scored for Steubenville, while Matt Loot added an assist. Luke Dinovo made 10 saves in net for Big Red, which is now 2-1 and takes on Beaver Local next Thursday.

Harrison wins
CAMBRIDGE — The Harrison Central girls soccer team pulled away from Cambridge on the road Thursday to even its record at 1-1 with a 6-1 win.
Angi Ferri scored five of the Huskies’ six goals.
GOLF
Brooke second in quad
WHEELING — The Brooke golf team placed second to University in a quad match Thursday at Oglebay’s Crispin Golf Course.
The Bruins turned in a 327, while University topped the field with a 309. John Marshall (352) and Tyler Consolidated (367) rounded out the field.
For Brooke, Garrett Hornick fired a 78, Nick Cipoletti recorded a 81, Andrew Patrello turned in an 82 and Henry Anderson fired an 86.
Huskies top Edison
CADIZ–The Harison Central golf team topped Edison by 16 strokes, 199-215, Thursday at Cadiz Country Club.
Nash Roberts was the medalist with a 46, while Ocean Rogers (49), Kaily Banal (50) and Heath Clay (54) followed.
For Edison, Brady Haught fired a 49, Luke Feralli a 51, Cash Meadows a 54 and John Whitatch a 61.
Panthers stay undefeated
RAYLAND — The Buckeye Local golf team topped Indian Creek Thursday at Becwood Golf Course to move to 13-0 on the season, 157-197.
Jacob Berry was the medalist with a 36, while Preston Lindsay fired a 39, Kamden Kinyo shot a 40 and Adam Blackwell turned in a 42.
For the Redskins, Noah Tweedy fired a 40, Riley Cuskea shot a 47, Stan Amis fired a 54 and Tre Feist-Winland shot a 56.
