To the editor:

I read with interest the letters to the editor. I notice there are several people who write monthly. It would be nice if many more would write to express their opinions or celebrate local events.

Sometimes, one must write a rebuttal, as I feel I must do. In response to Kathy Antinone’s letter “Trump not winning at all (March 29),” she states some inaccuracies. She writes Republicans and Democrats fight over money and we wait. If it wasn’t for Nancy Pelosi at the last minute adding to the original bill, it would have passed weeks ago to help us get through this crisis.

Here are the things Congress passed in order to rush the bill through that she insisted upon: $25 million for the JFK Center to keep it solvent through May; $75 million for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting; and $75 million each for the National Endowment for the Arts and National Endowment for the Humanities.

Can you imagine all of the masks and ventilators $250 million can buy? Here are some of her requirements for passage of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act that, thank God, Congress omitted: She insisted upon billions of dollars for Planned Parenthood; required corporate boards to be made up of one-third minorities, women and union members; required that states must participate in same-day voter registration; prohibition of institutes of higher learning from discussing the immigration status of students; the addition of scores of environmental regulations such as mandatory carbon footprint fines for airlines; grants to unions that can’t support themselves; a bailout of the post office; the continuation of Obamaphones ($1 billion); and the elimination of student loan debt. These requirements would cost hundreds of billions of dollars that Americans can’t afford.

Can anyone with a reasonable brain explain how the above benefits us in this medical emergency?

Pelosi is shameless, deceitful, repugnant and lies. Does she really pray for Trump?

She and the Democrats can’t see this type of activity is going to re-elect Trump? They must understand hot heads and cold hearts never solved anything.

The writer implies it’s Trump’s fault about the economy, never once stating that the problem began in China. Can she cite cases where Asian-Americans have been abused? She claims Trump’s not winning friends. Please explain his highest personal rating of 49 percent and that 61 percent of Americans believe he’s doing a good job with the virus?

The writer goes back to Hillary Clinton getting 3 million more votes. Why? Those votes came from New York and California. Do we Ohioans want to be governed by those crazies? She wants him to ask God for forgiveness. Maybe all of the Democrat Christians who look the other way on abortion should do the same.

More and more Democrats write letters just from their opinion, lie by omission and don’t do the research — they’ll never win over the average American. They’ll just shore up their base of like-thinkers, doers and followers. Please think independently.
