Oglebay gets Good Housekeeping 2026 Travel Award
WHEELING — Oglebay Park Resort has received another honor, this time from a well-known magazine.
Oglebay has been named a winner in Good Housekeeping’s 2026 Travel Awards, recognized as a winner in the outdoor exploration category.
In its entry, the magazine calls Oglebay Park Resort “a resort that has it all.”
“The sprawling West Virginia property combines the comfort of a full-service resort and the fun of a destination filled with things to see and do,” the magazine wrote. “On site you’ll find everything from horse stables to golf courses to museums. Oglebay also offers a zoo, swan boats, a nature center, and a ropes course along with common resort amenities like pools and tennis courts.”
The tester who visited the resort called the variety of amenities there “astonishing.”
Bob Peckenpaugh, Wheeling Park Commission president and CEO, said that variety is one of the resort’s missions.
“Oglebay Park Resort has long been a destination where families come together to make memories,” Peckenpaugh said. “This recognition from Good Housekeeping is a testament to our team’s commitment to excellence, as well as to the enduring magic that makes Oglebay such a special place to visit in every season.”
The honor joins the list of national and regional accolades for the resort. In 2024, Oglebay was named the No. 1 Holiday Hotel in the United States by USA Today’s 10 Best Readers’ Choice Awards. Oglebay has been nominated once again this year for this recognition.
The resort was also honored with the Tourism Project of the Year award from West Virginia Tourism for its innovative contributions to the state’s visitor experience.
In addition, Peckenpaugh was named West Virginia’s Tourism Professional of the Year for his work with the award-winning project.
