Philoptochos gives to center

Members of the philanthropic organization All Saints Weirton Philoptochos Society donated to various local charities and nonprofits throughout Brooke and Hancock counties. Among those who received a donation by the group was the Weirton Christian Center. The center, a community outreach ministry, is committed to serving God and community, with a focus on providing a strong foundation for children by meeting their spiritual, physical and emotional needs. Philoptochos members awarded the center $1,000, with Director Kim Weaver, second from right, accepting the donation. Philptochos members included, from left, Dianne Kohelis, President Mary Kohelis and Janet DiLorenzo. The society’s donations were made possible, in large part, by the generosity of church members who prepared baked goods to sell, and by community residents who support those sales held during the Thanksgiving and Easter seasons. The money collected from the sale of baklava and other Greek pastries, provides the funding to help those less fortunate. The society thanked everyone who has participated in these activities throughout the years.
