Toronto High School announces the Class of 2025’s top students

TORONTO — Commencement for Toronto High School was held May 18 in the school’s gym.

The Class of 2025’s top students are co-valedictorians Olivia Agin and Russ Dickinson, salutatorian Laney Danko, Addison Izzo, Jacob Cottrell, Parker Williamson, Rainee Crago, Isabell Cattrell, Jayden Jonasen and Ava Watkins.

The daughter of Larry and Brenda Agin, Agin earned a 4.0 grade point average and an associate of arts degree from Belmont College.

She has been named to the principal’s list all four years, Student of the Quarter in her freshman and sophomore years and the homecoming court.

Agin served as section leader and field Commander in the marching band, was in the concert band and choir, had a starring role in the school’s musical and appeared in its murder mystery plays and was a student at the Center of Music & Art.

She was vice president of the National Honor Society, president of Key Club, in the Beta Club, student senate and the varsity Academic Challenge team.

She attended the Close-Up program and volunteered at Toronto First Presbyterian Church, Helping Hands Food Pantry and the Humane Society.

Agin plans to major in music and English at Ohio University.

The son of Glenn and Jennifer Dickinson, Dickinson earned a 4.0 GPA and was named to the principal’s list every quarter.

He attended the Close-Up program and was president of the National Honor Society and treasurer of the Beta Club.

He was a three-year letterman in football and basketball and a four-year letterman in baseball and helped the football team to the 2023 and 2024 OVAC championships and baseball team to the the 2022, 2024 and 2025 state championships.

He was awarded the Governor’s Merit Scholarship and the Maxwell Scholarship at Ohio State University, where he has been accepted into the honors program and will study biology in preparation for a career as an orthopedic surgeon.

The daughter of Josh and Dana Danko, Danko earned a 3.98 GPA and an associate’s degree from Belmont College.

Named to the principal’s list each year, she was on the varsity softball team, earning such distinctions as East District Honorable Mention, East District First Team, OVAC Honorable Mention and OVAC Second Team.

Danko will attend the University of Akron and pursue a degree in allied health care administration.

The daughter of Johnathan and Tammie Nelson, Izzo earned a 3.95 GPA and was consistently named to the principal’s list while maintaining perfect attendance all four years.

She participated in the Close-Up program, was in the student senate all four years, and was in the casts of the school’s musicals all four years and in the television news crew her senior year.

Izzo will attend Robert Morris University and pursue a degree in business.

The son of Todd and Lisa Cottrell, Cottrell earned a 3.861 GPA and an associate’s degree from Belmont College.

He was consistently named to the principal’s list and honor roll, maintained perfect attendance and received an Academic Letter for his achievements.

Cottrell was treasurer of the National Honor Society, participated in the Close-Up program, was crowned homecoming king and had lead roles in two of the school’s musicals.

He was treasurer of the Key Club for three years, student senate vice president for four years and president of the Beta Club; on the basketball and track teams, each for one year; and in the choir and Pep Club.

Cottrell completed numerous community service projects through his involvement in school and civic organizations.

He plans to further his studies at Kent State University.

The son of Damian and Leah Williamson, Williamson earned a 3.69 GPA and was named to the honor roll all four years.

He was in band from fifth through 10th grade.

Outside school, he is a member of Buena Vista Methodist Church and enjoys writing science-fiction television scripts and building models.

Williamson plans to enter the workforce while exploring potential college and career paths.

The daughter of Clark and Lisa Crago, Crago earned a 3.68 GPA and was named to the principal’s list and honor roll all four years and Student of the Quarter her sophomore year and achieved perfect attendance from sixth through 10th grade.

Presented the positive behavior support program’s awards for generosity and courteous behavior her senior year, when she also completed emergency medical technician training.

Crago was secretary and historian of the National Honor Society, secretary of the Beta Club, a student senate delegate and huddle leader for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

She was in the marching band, serving as section manager, and concert and pep bands; Pep Club and softball, and basketball teams.

Outside school, she is a member of St. Francis Catholic Church and president of the TEMS and Toronto Fire Department’s Explorer program.

She plans to major in criminal justice at Franciscan University of Steubenville while working toward firefighter certifications and hopes to become firefighter/EMT and police officer.

The daughter of Christy and Todd Cattrell, Cattrell earned a 3.651 GPA and an associate’s degree from Belmont College.

She was named to the National Honors Society and consistently to the principal’s list and honor roll.

She participated in the Close-Up program and was in the Beta Club, student senate and school musicals.

Cattrell was in the varsity softball team four years and volleyball team two years, worked behind the scenes with the school’s film crew and volunteered at the Helping Hands Food Pantry.

She plans to earn a degree in social work at Youngstown State University.

The son of Bryan Jonasen and Morgan Lewis, Jonasen earned a 3.6 GPA and as a student at Jefferson County Vocational School, completed Level 1 foundations of restaurant management, earned food protection certification and passed the manager certification exam.

He was named to the principal’s list and honor roll, had perfect attendance two years and was in the Beta Club and student senate, each for two years.

He plans to pursue a business degree at Robert Morris University.

The daughter of Deborah and Nathan Watkins, Watkins earned a 3.57 GPA and is a licensed state-tested nurse aid, having earned multiple certifications as a health technology student at Jefferson County Vocational School.

As a member of Health Occupations Students of America, she competed in its competitions, earning first place in phlebotomy, for which she is certified; and second place in behavioral health.

Watkins was named to the principal’s list and honor roll all four years and was a varsity letterer in track her freshman year.

She plans to enter the health care workforce while continuing her education in the medical field.
