A new mural is taking shape on the north wall of the Strip Steel Credit Union building, 3316 Main St., Weirton. Outlines for the mural include depictions of the logos of branches from the United States military, as well as an American flag and other elements.
As a historian it is hard to describe the excitement that I feel about this Independence Day. Something about an anniversary is exciting but more than that, this day, this year in particular, feels different. Exactly 250 years ago on July 4, our nation was born with the Declaration of Independence. I think as a people it would hard to find a document more impactful on a personal and national level. Cross Creek budget hearing set
WINTERSVILLE — A public hearing will be held on the Cross Creek Township 2027 budget.
The hearing will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the office of the board of trustees, 1267 Cadiz Road. The regular board meeting will follow.

STEUBENVILLE — A Richmond woman who allegedly punched a man after the truck pull at the 2025 Jefferson County Fair was among four people indicted by a Jefferson County grand jury Wednesday.
Grand jurors indicted Kyleigh Marie McConnell, 225 Cherie Ave., Richmond, on a misdemeanor assault charge.
