STEUBENVILLE -- A Richmond woman who allegedly punched a man after the truck pull at the 2025 Jefferson County Fair was among four people indicted by a Jefferson County grand jury Wednesday.
Grand jurors indicted Kyleigh Marie McConnell, 225 Cherie Ave., Richmond, on a misdemeanor assault charge.
Authorities allege McConnell, 36, took two swings at the victim after the truck pull on Aug. 15, striking him first on the side of the face and the second time connecting with his nose, which was broken. The victim, substantially older than McConnell, had been concerned about her male companion and was caught unawares, they maintain.
Also ordered to stand trial:
-- Jerry Alan Crossland II, 32, 1432 Oak Grove Ave., Steubenville, on charges of having weapons under disability and possession of cocaine, both felonies.
Authorities allege they found a rifle and cocaine in Crossland's home when it was searched May 23 in connection with a shooting incident. While they report he was not the shooter, Crossland is prohibited from having or using guns due to a 2022 conviction for kidnapping and assault by strangulation in North Carolina.
-- Rocky Lee Ewing, 39, 135 Sinclair Ave., Yorkville, on charges of felony strangulation and misdemeanor domestic violence.
Ewing allegedly tried to choke a female in his home May 29. Authorities allege she had multiple marks around her neck where she was choked, her eyes were blackened and bruised, and she also had marks on her back and shoulder.
-- Joseph T. Mitchell, 31, 180 N. 4th St., Steubenville, on a charge of violating a protection order June 16 in Steubenville.
Authorities maintain Mitchell, originally charged with domestic violence, repeatedly called the female victim from the Jefferson County Jail, even though he'd been served with a protection order.
Several other cases were continued, prosecutors said.
