Cross Creek budget hearing set
WINTERSVILLE -- A public hearing will be held on the Cross Creek Township 2027 budget.
The hearing will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the office of the board of trustees, 1267 Cadiz Road. The regular board meeting will follow.
Veterans Service Commission to meet
STEUBENVILLE -- The Veterans Service Commission of Jefferson County will hold its regular meeting at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The meeting will be held at 500 Market St. All veterans and interested parties are welcome to attend.
Offices to close for holiday
WEIRTON - Area governmental offices are set to close for the Independence Day holiday.
The Hancock County Courthouse will close at noon today, and will be closed all day Friday, while the Brooke County Courthouse will be closed Friday.
Weirton municipal offices also will be closed Friday.
Four Seasons club holds June meeting
WEIRTON -- The Four Seasons Senior Club held its June 17 meeting at Undo’s.
President Gene Viola called the meeting to order, and Mary Alice Myers gave the opening prayer, which was followed by he Pledge of Allegiance and the singing of “God Bless America.”
Norma Eltringham was introduced as a guest.
Entertainment was the brown bag auction. Nancy Smurda won the 50-50 drawing and Liz Becroft won the sign-in book.
Door prize winners were Cheryl Thompson, Regina Truax, Faith Melto, Faye Jones, Laura Mamula, Tony LaRosa and Mary Alice Myers,
Faith Melto led the drawing for two dinners.
Regina Truax was recognized for having a birthday and Dr. Mark and Lee Lewis were recognized for their 50-year anniversary.
Faye Jones gave the secretary’s report, Valerie Rowland gave the treasurer’s report and jokes were presented by Liz Becroft and Josie Cekinovich.
Liz Becroft donated $20 back to the club.
Mary Alice Myers gave the closing prayer.
The next meeting will be held July 15 at Froehlich’s Classic Corner.
Seniors plan Vermont trip
TORONTO -- The Toronto Senior Citizens group is planning its trip to Vermont.
Scheduled for Sept. 14-19, the bus will leave Toronto at 8 a.m. Sept. 14.
The double-occupancy cost is $750 for members and $810 for nonmembers.
