Red Knights improve to 2-0
LOWELLVILLE — The Toronto football team is off to a 2-0 start to its season following a big road win on Friday night.
The Red Knights went to Lowellville and came back to the Gem City with a 34-6 victory.
Drake Bouscher rushed for 127 yards on 21 totes with a touchdown, while Michael Henry threw for 101 yards and two scores and Brady Fair hauled in eight passes for 90 yards and a pair of TDs in the victory.
Henry, who was 9 of 16 passing, also rushed for 45 yards and a score, while Caden McGrath broke a 43-yard TD run for Toronto.
Toronto finished with 326 yards of offense.
On defense, Kenny Jett had a pair of interceptions, while Johnson also had an INT and Heath Thomas had a sack and a TFL.
The Red Knights are back on the road next week, heading up Route 7 to battle Wellsville on Friday night.
Huskies lose a close one
NEWCOMERSTOWN — Harrison Central mounted a comeback try at Newcomerstown on Friday night, took the lead after three quarters, but came up short, 28-21, to fall to 0-2.
Newcomerstown (1-1) took an 8-0 lead after one and led 20-7 at halftime, but the Huskies surged in front 21-20 after three with two, third-quarter scores.
Newcomerstown, however, scored the only touchdown of the fourth quarter to take the victory.
The Huskies will look to get in the win column next Friday at Malvern.
