Initially, his hopes for a papal audience were rebuffed, but then-Pope Francis apparently acquiesced so he could expend a few of his precious remaining moments telling Vance to be a better Catholic. So, I failed to mention that on Mother’s Day, my children once again remembered me. And I didn’t even have to tell them what day of the year Mother’s Day fell on. Somehow they just knew. U.S. Sen. Jon Husted, R-Ohio, signed on last week to be a cosponsor of a bill that would recognize May as National Foster Care Month. That resolution later passed. Efforts in Columbus to address the shortage in affordable housing appear to be making a difference, though the momentum must be maintained. According to the 2025 Gap Report from the National Low Income Housing Coalition and the Coalition on Homelessness and Housing in Ohio, there is a deficit of 264,083 rental units that are affordable and available to the 438,108 extremely low-income households in the Buckeye State.
