Indian Creek golf outing a success

To the editor: Indian Creek would like to thank the following individuals and businesses for donating their time and contributions to our annual golf outing. Thanks to them, the 20th-annual Indian Creek Golf Outing was a huge success. All proceeds will benefit the Indian Creek athletic program and football team. First, thank you, Marshall and Highland Springs Golf Course, for your hospitality. I would like to thank my football staff for all the hard work they did in preparation for the outing and the time they put in during the outing. Next, thanks to the coaches’ wives and ...

Truth or deception

To the editor: “Oh! What a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive,” (Sir Walter Scott, 1808.) Many Democrats are still trying to deceive us about Joe Biden’s administration. For years we saw his mental and physical deterioration. Some Democrats are trying to profit by writing tell-all books, but others are still claiming that he was mentally fit. Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson published a book apparently describing what actually happened. Karine Jean-Pierre, the worst press secretary in history, is promoting her book about the reasons she left the Democrat ...

Democrats appear to be finished

To the editor: The Democratic party is finished. When the second dumbest liar in the Biden administration, Karine Jean-Pierre, a simpleminded press secretary, abandons the party, you know it’s the end. Monday’s Herald-Star included a piece about a Trump protest. Under the photo, the caption reads “More than 100 people gathered Saturday ...” I counted fewer than 20 people. The inconsequential speaker, Michael Kripchak, who was swamped in Ohio’s 6th Congressional race by Republican Michael Rulli, huffed and puffed, blaming President Donald Trump for killing two Minnesota ...

To the editor: The Upper Ohio Valley is a special place to me, filled with boyhood memories. The band Chicago sang “Old days ... Take me back to a world gone away,” with the Fourth of July celebrations eagerly awaited, where the beginning of an early morning raising of Old Glory, a day filled with laughter and stories; burgers and hot dogs on the grill, warm buns bursting with flavor, with ketchup, mustard, and onions, relish piled high; so much laughter and good times you would think every day is the Fourth of July. As the sun makes its way into the western sky, then comes ...

Polish community thanks Dave Gossett

To the editor: It was very sad to hear about the passing of Dave Gossett of the Herald-Star. Although it puts a smile on my face to remember what Dave did for the St. Stans/Polish Hill community with his articles about the St. Stans/Polish Hill reunion. The reunion started in 2003 in Walter Michalik’s backyard with a couple dozen people attending—mostly from Darlington Road and the surrounding area. We had moved the reunion indoors after a couple of years to an air-conditioned hall to make it more comfortable for the older folks. That year, Tina Galownia Greer posted a small ...
