Post election exhale
To the editor:
As someone who’s proud to be involved in our local politics, I want to take a moment to reflect on this election season and extend my sincere congratulations to all those who stepped forward to run for public office.
Whether your campaign ended in victory or not, you showed something essential to the health of our democracy: A willingness to serve.
Running for office requires courage, hard work and a genuine desire to make our communities better. Every candidate who put their name on the ballot contributed to that effort.
To those who won — congratulations and best wishes as you begin the work ahead. You now carry the responsibility of serving your constituents and I hope our communities benefit from your service.
To those who came up short — thank you for your desire to make a difference. Your perspectives remain vital to shaping our county’s future.
If this election inspired you, now’s the time to step up. Our county and country need new voices and fresh ideas from people who care about their communities. The filing deadline for next year’s races is in early February, so start the conversation now — your name could be the next one on the ballot.
Elections come and go, but the spirit of civic involvement endures. I’m proud of everyone who participated in this democratic process — from the candidates to the volunteers and especially to the voters who made their voices heard.
