Groups benefit from foundation
Thanks to the Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley, 11 Ohio Valley nonprofit organizations are getting a financial boost to continue the good work they do in the community.
Those organizations shared in more than $70,000 in Community Impact Grants that the CFOV distributed this week. Organizations earning those grants included the Belmont County Court of Common Pleas Juvenile Division Probation Department, CASA for Children, Catholic Charities West Virginia, Childrens Home of Wheeling Inc., City of Steubenville Parks and Recreation, Hancock and Brooke Young Professionals, Laughlin Community Center, Ohio Valley Youth Network, the Upper Ohio Valley Sexual Assault Help Center, WVU Foundation Inc. and Youth Services System Inc.
All of the money awarded will be put to good use in our communities.
The Ohio Valley Youth Network, for instance, is receiving $7,500, money that will go toward the Sycamore After-School Enrichment Program. Steubenville’s Parks and Recreation Department, meanwhile, will receive $4,000 for its mobile recreation program. And, the Hancock and Brooke Young Professionals will receive $3,400 to help with its Young Professionals Mentor Program Development.
The projects all of the recipients have put together are focused on improving physical and mental health, supporting youth and families, developing future leaders, expanding recreation opportunities and strengthening economic and social stability throughout the region.
It is wonderful to have an organization like the Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley, which recruits generous donors to help important groups around the region continue their missions of improving the community around them. The foundation’s efforts directly enhance the kindness and hard work of other local institutions.
