NANCY SMITH

Nancy Vivian Smith of Weirton, WV, passed away on January 5, 2026 at Stone Pear Pavilion in Chester, WV, at the age of 96.

Born in Richmond, Virginia on February 26, 1929 to the late Leslie and Alma Munday Foster, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Earl Smith in 2008, four sisters and one brother.

She met her husband in Virginia while he was serving in the Navy. They continued a long distance relationship until they were married in 1950. He brought his southern bride home to Weirton and she endured one of the biggest snows in 1950.

Nancy volunteered for Weirton Medical Center for many decades. She and Kenny were active in Spinning Gears and Dip & Dive square dance clubs. She was also a member of the Three Score Senior Club. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Weirton and the Weirton Senior Center, where she went everyday into her 90s.

She is survived by her son, Dean (Janet) Smith of Columbus, OH; her daughter, Donna (Jim) Herron of New Cumberland, WV; two granddaughters, Kylie (Jeff) Snow of Newark, OH and Lindsay (Ryan) Clark of Akron, OH; two step granddaughters, Katie (Thomas) Connell and Kelly McKinney both of Columbus, OH; and many great grandchildren.

Private viewing will be held at Steel & Wolfe Funeral Home in Weirton. Interment will take place next to her beloved Kenny at Chestnut Ridge Cemetery, Florence, PA.
