JoRITA “JAY” ANILE

JoRITA “JAY” ANILE, 91, of Weirton, WV, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at Grace Cottage in Weirton. Born on November 22, 1933, in Wellsburg, WV, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Rosalie “Rose” Mirasola Mascolino.

In addition to her parents, Jay was preceded in death by her beloved son, Leonard “Lenny” Anile (2020), and her sister, Jessie Karkenny.

Jay grew up in Wellsburg and graduated from Wellsburg High School. She continued her education at West Liberty State College and graduated from Wheeling College, later working as a legal secretary for several years. On August 20, 1955, she married the love of her life, Lewis “Lew” Anile. Together with Lew, Jay played a vital role in establishing and supporting Anile Pharmacy in Weirton.

A devoted member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Jay was active in her community and found joy in card clubs and bowling leagues. But her greatest passion was her family–especially in raising her son Lenny, to whom she was endlessly devoted.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Lewis “Lew” J. Anile, R.Ph.; her children, Diana Sikora, R.Ph. (Mark), LuAnne Colantonio (Mark), and Jeff Anile, R.Ph. (Lori), all of Weirton; her grandchildren, Jessica Jamison, Pharm.D. (Travis), Isabella Anile, D.P.T., Gianna Oliver, D.D.S. (Austin), Gabriella Anile, Mark Alex Colantonio, M.D., and Lea Colantonio; and great-grandchildren, Noah, Alivia, and Sophia. Jay also leaves behind her brother, Joe Mascolino; sister, Mary Lou Ujcich; and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received on Saturday, October 18, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Steel & Wolfe Funeral Home, 380 Penco Road, Weirton. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 229 California Avenue, Weirton, with Rev. Tony Thurston and Deacon John Basil officiating. Entombment will take place at St. Paul Cemetery, Weirton.
