Calling attention

The Jefferson County Commissioners have proclaimed Nov. 3 Color the World Orange Day to spread awareness of Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, also known as Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy. CRPS/RSD is a progressive disease of the autonomic nervous system characterized by constant, intense pain out of proportion to the original injury and typically accompanied by swelling, skin changes and extreme sensitivity. The four primary symptoms of the disease are constant, chronic burning pain; inflammation; spasms; and insomnia/emotional disturbance. On hand were, from left, Commissioner Eric Timmons; Daisy Luyster; Commissioner Tony Morelli; Luyster’s sister, Dawn Pahides, and brother-in-law, Joseph Pahides; and Commissioner Jake Kleineke. Dawn Pahides suffers from CRPS/RSD.
