Members of the Weirton Police Department were joined by city officials, family, friends, and other guests Friday to celebrate the promotion of two of its officers. Brandon Palmeri, second from right, rose to the rank of sergeant in the department, while Nicholas Kusich, second from left, was promoted to lieutenant. Palmeri joined the department in August 2016, with certifications in fields such as drug recognition, child safety seat inspection and installation and drone operations, while serving as a field training officer. Kusich has been with the department since November 2020, with a promotion to sergeant in June 2023. He is a member of the department’s special response team and serves as the accident reconstruction officer. Joining them were Police Chief Charlie Kush, at left, and Mayor Dean Harris. — Craig Howell
