On Friday, many children covered their bicycles with patriotic decorations for a contest held by the Wellsburg Kiwanis Club and were invited to ride them in the Independence Day Parade that followed. It was among many events organized by volunteers in the Wellsburg 4th of July Committee and supported by local businesses and others as part of a weeklong Independence Day celebration.
