Walk set to benefit cancer patients

WELLSBURG — For her senior honors project, Brooke High School student Lorelei Costlow is organizing a walk Saturday to benefit cancer patients.

The walk, dubbed Stride Against Cancer, will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Brooke Memorial Stadium’s athletic track.

Each participant is asked to make a $10 donation. Participants are encouraged to form teams for a chance to win prizes.

Brooke school board to meet Monday

WELLSBURG — The Brooke County Board of Education’s next regular meeting will be held at 5 p.m. Monday at the board’s office at 1201 Pleasant Ave.

Wheeling man admits role in drug trafficking

WHEELING — Steven Aldridge, 27, of Wheeling, has admitted to conspiring to sell large quantities of fentanyl and cocaine.

Aldridge entered a guilty plea Wednesday to one count of conspiracy to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute 40 grams or more of fentanyl and 500 grams or more of cocaine. According to court documents, Aldridge was working with others in a drug trafficking operation between Las Vegas and the Ohio Valley.

Aldridge faces five to 40 years in federal prison.

The Ohio Valley Drug Task Force, Marshall County Drug Task Force, and the Hancock-Brooke-Weirton Drug Task Force; Drug Enforcement Administration; Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms; West Virginia State Police; Wheeling Police Department; Ohio County Sheriff’s Office; and the Belmont County Sheriff’s Office investigated.

Solid Waste Authority board to meet

STEUBENVILLE — The Jefferson-Belmont Regional Solid Waste Authority Board has scheduled a meeting for 5:30 p.m., Monday, at the Jefferson JB Green Team building, located at 228 Technology Way, Steubenville.
