Interest sought in board seat

WELLSBURG — The Brooke County Commission is accepting letters of interest in a seat on the Brooke County Historical Museum and Culture Center board.

They may be submitted to the office of County Clerk Kimberly Barbetta at the county courthouse.

Toronto finance committee to meet

TORONTO — Toronto Council’s finance committee will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday at City Hall to discuss rates and wages for the city’s swimming pool.

The meeting will be followed by council’s regular meeting at 7 p.m.

Brooke school board to meet

WELLSBURG — The Brooke County Board of Education will hold its next regular meeting at 6 p.m. Monday at its office at 1201 Pleasant Ave.

Safety committee to meet

TORONTO — Toronto Council’s safety committee will meet at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall to discuss designated entertainment and outdoor recreation areas.

Finance committee to meet

WINTERSVILLE — Wintersville Council’s finance committee will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Village Building.

Post-election meetings set

STEUBENVILLE — Jefferson County Board of Elections has two post-election meetings scheduled:

• On May 12, the board will meet to review and approve provisional ballots cast in this week’s primary election.

• On May 16, the board will certify primary election day results and independent candidate petitions.

Both meetings will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the board office, located in the Tower building, Suite 100, 500 Market St., Steubenville.

Follansbee man sentenced

WHEELING — Harry Fred Wells, 54, of Follansbee, was sentenced to 120 months in federal prison for possession of child pornography.

The Office of the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of West Virginia announced the sentencing Wednesday.

Wells came to the attention of investigators after he pursued inappropriate communications with a minor through social media. During the investigation, a search of Wells’ home and phone revealed that Wells possessed child pornography depicting children under the age of 12.

Wells will serve 10 years of supervised release following his prison sentence.

The case was investigated by the Department of Homeland Security and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jennifer Conklin. It was presided over by U.S. District Judge John Preston Bailey.

Board to meet May 15

STEUBENVILLE — The Jefferson County Board of Development Disabilities will meet at 4:15 p.m., May 15, at the board’s administrative offices conference room, at 250 John Scott Highway, Steubenville.

To participate, call the board offices at (740) 264-5812 prior to the day of the meeting so arrangements may be made to accommodate each individual.

Solid Waste Authority sets meeting

STEUBENVILLE — The Jefferson-Belmont Regional Solid Waste Authority Board will hold its regular meeting at 5:30 p.m., Monday, at the Jefferson JBGT building, 228 Technology Way, Steubenville.
