Trinity P3 Performance gives demonstration
STEUBENVILLE – About 20 individuals from the local area participated in Friday’s Trinity P3 Performance demonstration at the YMCA Wellness Center at the St. John Arena.
The demonstration was to check the progress of conditioning on local athletes enrolled in the program for the past several weeks. Dr. Justin Baker, director of Trinity P3 Performance, said those involved would be participating in drills to determine their performance progress.
“Trinity P3 Performance is part of (Trinity Sports Medicine),” said Baker, adding P3 stands for “Protect, Progress and Perform. We are a branch of the Trinity Sports Performance Center. We want to center on (the results) of special training.”
The performance drills Friday included measuring the participants’ progress during the past several weeks using resistance training, specialized coaching and equipment, said Baker.
“We’re the only continuous strength and conditioning specialists (locally),” he continued, adding training was available for youth to adults.
“If you have a goal, we have a plan,” said Baker, adding Friday’s demonstration included high school student-athletes.
“We took 20 athletes from local high schools and (trained) them for six weeks,” he said. “We test them before and after training. Tonight is the big finale.”
Baker said some of the results have been impressive, including one individual losing 20 pounds and another improving his vertical jump by 6 inches.
“Our goal is to show that improvement to these coaches,” Baker said, adding he hoped to see improvement among all the student-athletes.
