Stinky situation: A city resident whose son stays in the basement says he’s “been intoxicated for most of the day” and had been “defecating on himself and refused to clean up,” Tuesday. Police told her they can’t force him to leave the premises or seek medical attention, and she said she’s already started eviction proceedings with the court. She insisted they speak with her son, who was “sitting in the recliner and stated he was fine and did not want medical attention.” When they asked him if he was capable of caring for himself he said he is fine and had gone to the store earlier to get coffee for his mother, who then grabbed his soiled pants and told police there “has to be something (they) can do” but was again told that legally there wasn’t. She was advised to follow through with the eviction process and if he has a medical issue to contact Steubenville Fire Department/EMS.
No substance: A woman told police her mother was under the influence of drugs and wanted her removed from her Lovers Lane residence, Tuesday. After speaking with both of them, the police said they “could not determine whether the mother was on any type of substance, although she was very angry and told them she wished to leave without (their) assistance.” Police waited while she gathered her things and left.
Squatting: Police were told several individuals were staying in an apartment in the 800 block of North Sixth Street where they had no business being because the tenant recently died, Tuesday. Four men found in the apartment were told to leave immediately and not return.
At the brink: A Lovers Lane resident told police his daughter “has been yelling and breaking things around the house,” Tuesday. He said she “pushed the microwave off the counter and threw something across the room at the TV.” His daughter admitted doing both and said she is “frustrated because she has been looking after her father for the past three months due to (his) medical problems.” She said he “becomes upset with her when she attempts to help and that makes her more frustrated.” Police said the microwave was broken and on the floor and a pill container was also broken. He admitted being frustrated that he can’t look after himself. They agreed to stay away from each other until the woman’s other can pick her up.
Strained relations: A Foster Place resident asked police to remove his sister from his home, Tuesday. He said she didn’t live there. Police said she left.
Driver charged: A city resident was taken into custody after police allegedly spotted a white, rock-like substance believed to be cocaine on the driver’s seat and a metal pipe with more of the same substance in her vehicle during a traffic stop, Tuesday. Police said Meghan E. Orban, 44, 259 Gramercy Place, Steubenville, was charged with possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. She also was cited for having an expired registration and served with a warrant out of Municipal Court for misdemeanor theft, they said.
Caused concern: Someone reported seeing suspicious individuals in the 200 block of Hollywood Boulevard, Tuesday. Police said the two told them they’d missed the bus and were waiting on the next one, so they sent them on their way.

Too much to drink: A Wintersville woman said she and her boyfriend had been “drinking and arguing” and she wanted him to leave but he refused, Wednesday. Deputies said the woman smelled of alcohol and her speech was slurred and she admitted having downed “a couple” of beers. She initially claimed he’d slapped her face, but deputies said there was no evidence to support that and when they spoke with him, he was “easier to understand” and denied striking her. She eventually said she wasn’t afraid of him and both of them agreed to go to bed for the night, her on the couch and him in the bed.
Startled: Someone reported seeing a male “covered in blood” walking up state Route 213 near the south junction park and ride, Monday. Deputies located a male “who was covered in red paint” who was on his way home from work at a Wintersville area business. His ride arrived and took him the rest of the way, deputies said.
Call for help: Deputies were asked to check on two county residents after one of them called Chrysalis to report “the voices in his head were so loud,” Monday. The caller said she could hear the other party in the background saying he’d stopped taking his medication. Deputies spoke with them and one admitted to hearing voices and was taken to a nearby hospital to get back on track.
