Spooky samples
The United Way of Jefferson County’s 29th-annual Taste of Jefferson County event Wednesday featured 17 area eating establishments taking part in the nonprofit’s largest fundraiser of the year. Participants gathered at St. Florian Hall in Wintersville, with some keeping with this year’s theme of “Halloween,” adorning their displays with holiday items and serving portions of their favorite menu items for gusts to sample. In addition, the 11 member agencies the United Way assists were in attendance, informing attendees of their services. Among the restaurants and eateries attending were the Laurels of Steubenville, top, with dietary aide Tracey VanKirk, left, and dietary manager Jamie Maley helping; and Texas Roadhouse, below, using a wild west theme with servers, from left, Kirsten Duggan, Kristin Haines and Tammy Selman.
