International Senior Club discuss upcoming bus tours
WEIRTON — Members of the International Senior Club met Oct. 14 at Undo’s. Patty Coppa led the group in prayer and provided the blessing. Larry Purks led in the Pledge of Allegiance, after which members sang “God Bless America.” A buffet dinner and dessert were enjoyed, followed by an introduction of guests by Liz Beecroft.
Beecroft introduced Mary Alice Mayer, Dorothy Bauer, Delores Manack, Richard Mergan, Liliam Zoros, Ruth Masters, Shelia Golonka and Marcia Golonka.
President Regina Truax reminded members their 2026 dues must be paid in November. There were three new members to join the organization, including Carla Steven, Mayer and Masters.
Richard Grimm entertained those in attendance with a melody of oldies, country and rock n’ roll. Members were encouraged to sing along with Grimm.
Happy birthday was sung to those celebrating an October birthday, including Mergen and Alexis Marzarella. Those recognized for celebrating an anniversary in October were Tony and Delores LaRosa and Dean and Debbie Ligas. Beecroft read the joke of the day.
The following bus tours were announced: Oglebay Festival of Lights, dinner at Wilson Lodge, Wheeling, Nov. 14; Motown Christmas, Capitol Theater, Wheeling, Dec. 13; Rock and Roll Doo Wop, No. 29, Capital Theater, Wheeling, April 4; “Hair Spray,” Lincoln Park Performing Arts, Midland, Pa., May 10; “Legally Blonde,” Lincoln Park Performing Arts, Midland, June 28; Myrtle Beach show trip, six shows, 10 meals, Aug. 31-Sept. 5; Senecaa Resorts and Casino, Niagara Falls, Sept. 23-25; and Branson Show Extravaganza, six shows, 10 meals, Oct. 4-10. The 50/50 drawing was won by Golonka. Undo’s gift certificates were won by Manack and LaRosa. A fall wreath, made by Truax, was won by Cil Finley.
Door prizes consisted of Dairy Queen gift certificates and were awarded to Nancy Lellie, Coppa, Meyer, Finley, Golonka and Bucky Sims.
