Fundraiser set to help Toronto couple
TORONTO — Plans are underway for a benefit to assist Toronto nurse practitioners Rhonda Tice and her husband, Ian.
According to event organizers, Rhonda is undergoing treatment for metastasized breast cancer, having been originally diagnosed in May 2023. Friends explained the cancer metastasized to her bones, adding the illness followed Rhonda’s battle with infertility, as well as a failed adoption. Rhonda was declared to be in remission in December 2023; however, the cancer returned in March, and has spread to her brain. The couple work for Provisions Health Services in Toronto, and are well-known throughout the community for their compassion and willingness to help others.
“We hope to show them the same level of care in their time of need,” stated their friend, Lauren Baker of Toronto. “The proceeds from this event will be donated directly to the Tice family to help alleviate the financial burden of ongoing treatment, allowing Ian and Rhonda to spend quality time together as they focus on her health and comfort.”
The event will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 12 at the Karaffa Recreation Center, located on Dennis Way in Toronto. There is no cost for admission. Officials will host drawings prior to the event, along with a cash door prize of $2,500. Tickets for the drawing are $10 each. In addition, tickets will be sold for a drawing to win a bourbon basket containing eight different bourbons. Tickets can be purchased for $20 each or six tickets for $100. Tickets for the bourbon basket will be sold through the end of the event. The winner does not need to be present. The drawing will take place live on Facebook, officials noted. Other fundraisers for the day will include a 50/50 drawing, a basket drawing and photos taken by Rhonda during her work travels across the country. Food trucks will be on site, offering a variety of options. Tickets for the basket drawing can be purchased with cash or by check. Checks can be made out to Ian Tice at: Rhonda Tice Fundraiser c/o Top Notch, P.O. Box 237, Toronto, OH 43964.
Cash or donated items for use in basket drawings can be dropped off with Kristen or Kylie at Top Notch Janitorial Services, located at 1310 Dennis Way in Toronto. Hours for drop off items are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays through Oct. 9. Electronic forms of payment for donations and drawing tickets can be arranged by contacting organizers through Facebook or e-mail.
