Artist Siebieda’s works on display

STEUBENVILLE — Steubenville Art Association member Paula Siebieda of Bellaire has been accepted into several high-level professional exhibits, including the Hoyt Art Center Regional, where her oil painting entitled “Cathedral of the Blessed Mother,” is displayed.

This highly competitive juried exhibition is held in New Castle and runs through the end of July. This is the third time Siebieda has been juried into the exhibition, officials stated.

She was featured in Crosscurrents, a juried regional held at Wheeling’s Stifel Fine Art Center and is scheduled to have two of her pieces displayed in the juried professional exhibit of the Ohio State Fair. This will be Siebieda’s fourth time being recognized at the fair exhibition.

The exhibit runs July 24 through Aug. 4 at the Ohio Fairgrounds in the Cox Fine Art Center in Columbus. Siebieda was featured in the North Hills Art Center’s Animals exhibit in Pittsburgh. She will be featured in the Tuscarawas Center for the Arts’ Midsummer Nights invitational, the Celebration of Art exhibit in the Butler Art Center, the Cranberry Artist’s Network Martinis and Monet exhibit, and the ARC Human-Resources of Canonsburg sales exhibit.

Artist Clum’s work displayed

STEUBENVILLE — Steubenville resident James Clum, a trustee of the Steubenville Art Association and one of the designers for the mural painted in Beatty Park, was among those whose oil painting was selected for the Butler Institute of American Art’s 88th national mid-year show in Youngstown. The 18-inch-by-24-inch painting entitled “Abundance and Waste,” is part of a selective juried exhibit, running through Aug. 11 on the second floor of the Mackintosh and Finnegan Hynes galleries.

This event showcases more than 80 works done by various artists across the country, particularly artists in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, New York, Virginia, South Carolina, Minnesota, Illinois and New Jersey. Works were juried by artist Audrey Flack.

Richmond artist Gina Judy honored

RICHMOND — Richmond resident Gina Judy received an Award of Merit for her artwork entitled “Veterans Memorial Bridge, Steubenville, OH,” during the West Virginia National Aqueous event, at the Artisan Center in Wheeling. The work will be on display through July 31.

Judy also won honorable mention in the Spokane National for her piece, “Portico at Sandscrest, Wheeling, W.Va.” The plein-air piece won first in its the 2023 Wheeling competition and was accepted into the 78th Ohio annual juried exhibition, on display at the Zanesville Museum of Art through Sept. 14. Juried by Max Barton of the Canton Museum of Art, 62 works were accepted — or 13 percent of the more than 400 entries submitted — into the exhibition.

“Dad’s Golden Years Not So Golden,” won the painting award at the Westmoreland Arts and Heritage Festival Art Nationals Juried Exhibit. Two additional paintings of Judy’s were accepted. She was exhibited in the Alabama National and North Hills Art Center’s Pittsburgh and Beyond exhibits.

Additional works of Judy’s will be on display at the following locations: The Adirondacks Pastel Society National Exhibit, the annual Adirondacks National Exhibition of American Watercolors, Montana Watercolor Society National Exhibit, Tuscarawas Center for the Arts Midsummer Nights Invitational in New Philadelphia.

Other displays include the Celebration of Art in the Butler Art Center, the Hoyt Member Exhibition at the Conflulence in New Castle, Living Canvas II Juried Exhibit at the Studio 4 Gallery in Pittsburgh; Martinis and Monet by the Cranberry Artist’s Network, and the Arc Human Resources’ A Colorful Journey sales exhibition in Canonsburg.

Book club to meet

WELLSBURG — The Brooke County Public Library Book Club will meet in person and virtually at 5 p.m. July 25 to discuss, “Affilachia: Poems by Frank X. Walker.”

Participants will receive the book that will be discussed next month.
