Steubenville Police

Tensions rising: A Shirley Circle resident said she’s being harassed by a neighbor, Thursday. She said she didn’t know the woman’s name but told police she “comes over and wants to fight her over parking spots.” She said she normally “just ignores her and doesn’t go out to confront her.”

High flying: A woman at a building in the 100 block of North Fourth Street told police “she was high and (a male) had thrown her to the ground,” Friday. She refused to give them any more details but wanted to be checked out at the hospital to make sure she didn’t have a concussion. The male said he’d gone there “to kick people out of the apartment” but while he was getting everyone out, “(the female) became aggressive and assaulted him.” Police said neither of them had visible injuries, but the male wants to pursue charges and banned the woman from the property. A half-hour later police were called to the hospital for a disturbance involving the same woman. Employees said the woman was “taking things from the hospital staff” and was “standing on the hospital bed and yelling at (staff)” but was “not able to make rational decisions regarding her wellbeing, due to her current state of mind.” Police persuaded her to cooperate.

Bothersome: A woman in the 2300 block of Chestnut said her nephew has been harassing her and another family member since he moved out a couple weeks ago, Friday. She said when he lived with them, he would “become aggressive” and at one point “pulled a BB gun out and threatened to shoot her with it.” She said he’d moved out because of the tension in the household but since then “he has been constantly harassing them, driving past the house and blaring his music.” Earlier that day, she said he’d “thrown a cup of liquid” at another family member.

Old yeller: A customer at the downtown Speedway was upset because the cashier “wouldn’t sell (him) tobacco products … for a third party,” Saturday. Witnesses said the man “became irate and began to yell at the cashier.”

Heavy lifting: A man walked out of Lowe’s with a tablesaw he hadn’t paid for, Friday. Police said it was valued at $699.

Bad luck: A city resident was taken into custody after a fender-bender in a parking lot in the 2800 block of Sunset Boulevard, Saturday. Police said Martin D. Tolar, 58, 441 Linduff Ave., Steubenville, was booked into the county jail with no bond after dispatchers advised he was wanted for failure to appear at a hearing in Toronto county court. Tolar also was cited for driving under suspension, they said.

Time to go: A woman requested police accompany her to a residence in the 600 block of North Fifth Street while she retrieved her clothes, Saturday. Police said while she was upstairs they “could hear yelling between the female” and her ex, followed by a “crash.” When they went upstairs to check on the pair they said no one was harmed and the female left the property.

Pushing it: A woman in the 100 block of S. 5th Street said she and her boyfriend “had been arguing through the night and…he had pushed her and had torn the place up,” Saturday. She told police she didn’t want to pursue charges but she wanted him to leave.

Acting out: A cashier at a South Seventh Street business said a customer had been acting disrespectful and when he confronted him about it, “the male became irate and began to yell and threaten (him.)” He said the male had already left but he doesn’t want him returning to the store.

Booked: Monte Lyles, 155 Circle Drive, Wintersville, warrant (Belmont County) alleging attempted trafficking drugs, Sunday.

Summons: Albert Stewart Jr., 62, 1417 Oregon Ave. (rear), Steubenville, theft.

Fraud: A Union Avenue resident said someone used her Social Security number to open a bank account, Thursday.
