Steubenville Police

Aggravated: A resident in the 2500 block of Crabbe Boulevard who told police he’d “had too much to drink” ended up being held without bond after police learned his female companion had allegedly been assaulted, Thursday. Police said a caller reported a disturbance between the two and when they arrived at the location, reported seeing a male who smelled of alcohol “only wearing shorts” who was in what they described as a “very aggravated state” putting objects on the back of a truck, later discovered to be “two large knives.” Police said the female’s face was red and she had what appeared to be blood around her mouth and alleged the male had punched her in the face with his closed fist. She claimed they were “sitting in bed” when he “struck her out of nowhere,” police said. She wasn’t interested in pursuing charges, but said after seeing signs of an apparent altercation inside the residence they felt charges would be appropriate. Timothy Bruck, 48, of 2520 Crabbe Blvd., Apt. C, was booked into the Jefferson County jail without bond on a domestic violence charge, police said.

Didn’t deliver: A Pico Street property owner told police he paid a contractor $6,000 to repair a wall but the work has never been done, Thursday. He showed police a contract and text messages they’d exchanged and said the contractor was supposed to start work in 2024 and be done in 2025.

Not herself: A city resident requested assistance with his wife who he said was “acting out of character for a few hours,” Thursday. He said she had been arguing with someone who had since left the scene. His wife said she was fine and “would settle down for the evening.” She said she was going to have dinner and then go to bed.

Big mistake: An inmate at the county jail who wants to sell his vehicle or use it as collateral to bond himself out said no one can find it, Thursday. When he was arrested he’d told police to give his keys to a friend but said since then, “It’s been driven by so many other individuals that now (it) cannot be located.” He asked police to find it and give the keys to a family member.

Thefts: Someone is stealing old and used wire from the AT&T yard on Washington Street, it was repoted Thursday. Police were told the thefts have been going on for more than a month but he’d been unable to figure out how the thief was getting on site, but that day an employee had “brought to his attention that a hole had been cut into the chain link fence on the farthest side of the property” and it had been covered up with “some sort of old sign” so it hadn’t been visible before. He figures about $5,000 in scrap wire had been stolen.

Booked: Johnathan S. Davis, 39, 246 Belvedere Drive, Bloomingdale, possession of drugs, Thursday. Davis was taken into custody after a traffic stop on Adams Street at South Commercial Avenue, police said. He allegedly was seen dropping “a bag of suspected narcotics on the floorboard,” he said. Police maintain Davis later told them the substance in the bag was “heroin laced with fentanyl.”

False alarm: A caller reported a woman “passed out” in a Maryland Avenue location, Thursday. Police located the woman, who told them she and her boyfriend “got into a disagreement and she was sitting on the round talking on the phone.”

Booked: Josh Fayak, 44, 214 Ravine St., Steubenville, held without bond after police served him with three warrants for misdemeanor theft, four warrants for failure to appear, possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia, Thursday. Police had spotted a man they believed to be Fayak exiting a recovery center and, aware of multiple warrants for his arrest, report that when they took him into custody, they located several crack pipes, a bundle of chor boy, a push rod and “several rock-like pieces consistent with crack cocaine.”

Booked: Joseph Tassey, 61, 228 Oregon Ave., Weirton, held without bond after probation revocation, Thursday.

Booked: Stone Christopher Hardin, 26, McDonald, Pa., violation of a protection order, Thursday. Hardin was located in a residence in the 700 block of Dock Street after a caller reported a possible domestic. A female living at the residence told police she “was tired because her newborn child “was awake and … she was tired” and insisted there was no one else in the residence, but police allegedly located Hardin in an upstairs room.

Jefferson County Sheriff

Creepy: Deputies were told an older male tried to gain entrance to the children’s home on John Scott Highway by passing himself off as a communications worker sent to work on the phone system, Wednesday. Employees wouldn’t let him in.

Didn’t belong: A woman leaving a family member’s home in Dillonvale reported seeing a suspicious male in the area and was concerned he “might be involved in a rash of vehicle break-ins,” Friday. Deputies were unable to locate him.
