Scholarship applications available
NELSONVILLE — The Foundation for Appalachian Ohio, in partnership with its donors and affiliate foundations, is accepting applications for more than 50 scholarship funds that support the educational and career goals of students within the 32-county region.
Scholarship applications for 2026 will be available through Feb. 15.
A new scholarship has been added to the foundation’s general application cycle this year, according to officials.
The Area Agency on Aging Region 9 Scholarship supports students residing in the agency’s service area, including those in Harrison and Jefferson counties who are pursuing an RN or LSW degree from a college or university within that service area.
Information regarding individual scholarship opportunities, including guidelines, eligibility requirements and application materials, can be found online.

Scholarships are listed alphabetically on the website and include a wide range of categories, including STEM, health care, business education, art and music, business, education, technical or trade and social sciences.
Completed applications and all accompanying materials must be submitted online by the date listed, with many of the scholarship applications due by Feb. 15, officials stated. New visitors to the site may be required to create an account in the portal section, if noted in the criteria section.
Last year, more than $737,000 was awarded in postsecondary scholarships to support students beginning or continuing their educational and career journeys. More than 320 scholarship funds have been established by the foundation through gifts from residents and friends of Appalachian Ohio.
Since 2004, more than 5,500 scholarships have been awarded.
