Steubenville Police
Injured: An assault and theft were reported at a location in the 2800 block of Sunset Boulevard, Monday. Police said only that the male victim “was transported to Trinity West’s emergency room for treatment of a large laceration to his face.” No further information was available.
Priorities: A couple who’d activated an alarm at a Stratford Boulevard location told police everything was okay, Sunday. They said they’d been arguing “over cigarettes and chicken tenders.” Police told them to “keep the peace.”
Chores not done: Neighbors reported a disturbance at a residence in the 900 block of North Sixth Avenue, Monday. The front door was “wide open” when they arrived, and police said they could hear the occupants upstairs arguing. Eventually one of the residents came downstairs and advised she and a family member had been arguing “over household chores not being done” but said no blows were exchanged, though police said she had a scratch on her face that she claimed was caused by her daughter. The two agreed to separate for the evening.
Blunder: A driver at the wheel of a U-Haul was cited after he allegedly clipped a car parked in the 600 block of Oxford Boulevard while the woman who’d rented the vehicle was cited for letting him drive it, Sunday. Police said Michael Longfellow, 53, Zanesville, was cited for failure to control after he told them he was southbound on Oxford when he “inadvertently struck the parked car.” The woman who’d rented the truck, Cathy S. White, 68, of Florence, S.C., was cited for wrongful entrustment.
Changed his mind: City firefighters requested police assistance with a man who had initially been unresponsive but once he regained consciousness was “in an irate state,” Saturday. When they got to the man’s residence, police said he was calm and agreed to go to the hospital, but when he stood up to leave the residence, they said he “became irate again and was yelling (at police and firefighters).” Police said when they tried to calm him down “he advised he didn’t want any assistance” from them. Since he was aware of his surroundings and the situation and had stated his wishes, they left.
Misstep: Police were told a man fell in the roadway in the 200 block of South Fourth Street “and possibly struck his head,” Friday. They moved him to the sidewalk and called for an ambulance to take him to the hospital for treatment.
Hit the road: An El Villa Way resident told police she and her husband had been arguing, but it was strictly verbal, Sunday. She said she just wanted him to leave, which he did.
Apprehensive: An Arlington Avenue resident told police she thought someone had entered her home while she was at a friend’s place, Sunday. She said she hadn’t gone inside and didn’t know if they were still inside, but police checked the home for her and didn’t find anyone.
Long-term parking: A vehicle was left “for hours” parked in front of a gas pump at the uptown Speedway, Sunday. Police tracked down the owner, who advised his daughter had taken the car. They determined it had a dead battery. Employees said it could remain where it was until the owner could have it towed away.

Stolen bike: A Mingo Junction resident said someone broke into his garage and stole a bicycle, Sunday. Deputies said they had security footage of a man in dark clothing with a face covering “walk past their residence, pushing the bike.” The owner valued the bike at $100-$200. Nothing else is believed to have been taken, deputies said.
Suspicious: An Adena resident said she and her husband spotted an unknown male walking on their property and went out to confront him, Sunday. The woman said the stranger “appeared to be carrying something and came from the wood-line above her property,” and said he started walking toward her so she warned him her dogs would bite him, then reports her husband came out holding his handgun at his side and “told the man to stop walking toward them.” They said the man “eventually took off running” and they called 9-1-1. Deputies were unable to find the stranger.
