Police reports

Jefferson County Sheriff

Run while you can: A Toronto caller reported seeing a red Polaris side-by-side pull up in front of his house where the woman jumped out, the two of them argued and the woman stated, “You hit me and I’m not coming back” before running off into the woods, Saturday. The male told the caller to “go ahead and call (law enforcement) because I know all of them and they won’t do anything,” then took off to follow the woman. While deputies were enroute the caller reported hearing “a lot of screaming and then the side-by-side came flying up the hill with (both of them) on it, she was screaming.” Two groups of people out riding and a man fishing all stated they had not seen the couple, and when deputies finally were able to identify the male driver and speak with the woman, advised she told them she “was OK and did not report any problems.”

Nose out of joint: A Pennsylvania resident told deputies her sister had called to say a male known to her “was intoxicated and becoming aggressive due to (her) putting her house on the market to sell (without) offering to sell it to him first,” Saturday. When the seller’s son confronted the drunken man deputies were told the man “threatened to shoot (the son) in the chest” and the man was currently “on a tractor in the rear of the property drinking.” The son said the man was intoxicated and was being aggressive toward his mother so he went to speak with him but said the drunken man “told (him) he was going to get his gun and shoot him in the chest.”

Headstrong: A Yorkville woman requested a deputy at her property and when the dispatcher asked why, told her, ‘You don’t even want to know,” Sept. 19. Told that deputies need to know before a deputy can be sent, she told them her neighbor put his fence on their property and her husband was “going out there now to tear down the fence.” Dispatchers told her that wasn’t a good idea and arranged for a deputy to go to their property in person and advise them that “it’s a civil matter and will need to be handled through the courts and they are not to remove the fence.”

Bad break: A woman complained that her ex-boyfriend is harassing her, Monday. She said they broke up two weeks ago after dating about 10 months and since the split, he’s been sending her harassing text messages. When she finally blocked him she said he began posting “a lengthy description of his version of the breakup,” using her name. She told deputies she feels harassed and “doesn’t want him contacting her again.”

Drug issue: A deputy used sternum rubs to resuscitate a woman overdosing in a car in the Dillonvale area, Saturday. She told deputies she denied using heroin and fentanyl but had taken gabapentin, but there were “a bunch of needles” in her car “but was unable to show deputies due to her physical state.” Deputies said they found a foil with white powdery substance in the foil, along with a small amount of “crushed up pill residue.” She said a male had been with her but deputies said he was “nowhere to be found.” Mount Pleasant EMS treated her but she declined to go to the hospital and the family member who came to take her home said she’d recently been released from prison. He said she’s “always had a drug problem.”

Bad situation: A Tiltonsville resident told deputies he and his son were fighting, Saturday. He said his son was “possibly on something at this time.” He admitted at one point it became physical but not at that time. The son “could be heard in the background yelling” but they couldn’t make out what he was saying.

Strange behavior: A caller reported hearing “screaming and things crashing” at a property in the 200 block of Jewett Road, Sunday. The male involved had left but a woman was still at the property who told them she used to live with him but had moved out “months ago.” She said when she came to get some of her things they’d argued and admitted “she was the one who screaming” and mentioned the home “no longer has power or water.” She said there was no physical altercation and then drove off with a friend who she said was going to take her to her new home in Weirton, but minutes later deputies said they saw her on foot carrying a bag of clothing “heading back in the direction of Jewett Road.” When they asked her if all was well, they said she “concocted a story about (her friend) running out of gas just down the road,” so they pointed out they carry gas cans and would be happy to assist her in leaving the area. They drove her to the location she said the friend was at deputies said it “became clear that (he) was nowhere to be found” and then she told them “he must have gotten the car running again despite it being out of gas.” After a brief discussion deputies said she agreed to allow them to transport her to Weirton, where she asked to be dropped in front of a car wash and “claimed to have family that lived close by.”

Upsetting: A county resident who had gone to a friend’s house because her ex had been “messaging her threatening things and she did not feel safe” reported finding all four tires on his truck had been flattened, Sunday. The man called back to report the ex had returned “and broke a bunch of stuff on the front porch.” Deputies located the ex, who agreed to a voluntary mental health examination.

Badly injured: Deputies said a woman at a location on state Route 213 “was bleeding heavily” and had to be flown to a Pittsburgh hospital by medical helicopter after being attacked by a dog, Saturday. No further information was available.

Over-extended: A Bergholz resident said the neighbor had his dog on a long chain that reached onto their property and when her husband went to put the trash out the animal came on their property and bit him, Saturday. She said her husband didn’t need medical attention, though deputies advised it might be a good thing to do so if the dog up-to-date on its shots. While talking with the caller dispatchers said they could “hear (the dog owner’s girlfriend) yelling at her in the background” and the caller yelling back.

Damaged: Three mailboxes along state Route 213 were vandalized, Saturday. The caller reported someone “hit the mailboxes and destroyed them with what (is believed to have been) a baseball bat.” Deputies were told it’s not the first time they’ve had problems.

Hanging on: A Yorkville resident said his late mother let a man use her car before her death and now the man won’t return it, Friday. He said he’s been in contact with the man through Facebook messenger about returning it “but he keeps getting the run around.” He said the car is registered to his mother.

Dump and run: An Anthony Mining Co. representative told deputies someone dumped “a bunch of garbage” on company property, Friday. Going through it, he said he found three car titles from New York “and thought that was strange,” then found a few toll receipts “with images of two of the vehicles plate numbers, also from New York.” He called back not long after to report he’d located an individual on Facebook who had posted about her blue Mustang being stolen and said one of the titles they’d found was for a blue Mustang.

Vengeful: A Jefferson County resident reported finding “the windows broken out of her two vehicles,” Friday. Asked who might do something like that, she told deputies possibly her ex-husband “due to them having a disagreement (the day before) and that he can be vindictive like that.”

Lot of yelling: A caller reported problems at a Bergholz area residence, Saturday. A female said the dispute hadn’t become physical, but dispatchers said they could hear a man in the background “calling her names” and making other allegations. Deputies said the male left before they arrived.
