Flushed: A Smithfield township man told deputies his wife assaulted him after he flushed three pills he found in her pocket down the toilet, Sunday. He told deputies he figures they were Xanax and said she became very angry, chasing him around the house (and) at one point she grabbed him by the arm, leaving several scratch marks.” He said he’s “tired of her drug use and this time he wants to file charges.” Deputies said the woman “spoke in circles and began telling us about her day and (her husband) cutting grass,” the deputy said. “When I asked her to get to the part about the pills and chasing him around, (she) stated they were not hers, they belong to a friend and the only yelling she did was to tell him not to call the police.” She denied assaulting him.
Stick with soft drinks: A Steubenville man said his girlfriend punched out his garage door window, Sunday. He said they’ve been dating about a year and everything was fine until they got back to his place Saturday night and she wanted to get alcohol and he said no, then the next morning when they were fighting he said she wanted to go get her drug of choice, cocaine, and while they were arguing she punched out the garage entry door window. When deputies talked to his girlfriend, she said only that they’d argued and he locked her out with her keys still inside his house and when she knocked on the window it broke. She said she’d pay to have it fixed.
Bad behavior: A mother said her 13-year-old son broke things, tried to slash her tires and threatened to beat her with a broom when she unplugged his Xbox and grounded him for not doing his chores, Sunday. The teen was hiding under his bed when deputies arrived, and when he finally started to emerge “he had a broom in his hand, swinging it side-to-side.” The deputy removed the broom from his possession and put the youth in the back of his cruiser.
OVI charged: A Rayland man was taken into custody after a caller reported a suspicious vehicle with heavily tinted windows parked in the roadway in front of his home with the headlights on. Christian A. Ryan, 21, of Rayland was charged with OVI and failure to comply on state Route 150 in Mount Pleasant township, Sunday. He also was cited for failure to control, a seat belt violation and a window tint violation. Deputies allege they found Ryan in the driver’s seat, “incoherent but slightly responsive,” and when they tried to get him to roll down his window to ensure he wasn’t having a medical emergency he instead fled, “driving primarily in the left lane and off the road into yards.” At one point they said he pulled off the road by a business and as the deputy approached his vehicle, took off again, this time “nearly (striking) multiple signs and a residential propane tank in the yard next to the car wash.” The deputy tried to get in front of him to force him to pull over but said Ryan’s vehicle scraped his bumper with his fender and door, slowing down in the 200 block of Market Street where the deputy was able to approach on foot and used his baton to break the passenger side window. He said Ryan was “still accelerating slowly and coasting back,” so he dropped the baton and pulled his service weapon and ordered him to stop the car and exit the vehicle. Deputies reported he denied using drugs or alcohol but struggled to bring himself up to a knee while he held his right arm steady, and when he tried to get up “could not balance himself and fell.” A resident came out and assisted in getting him to a sitting position. Deputies noted Ryan refused a breathalyzer test.
Mow mine: A Dillonvale woman was upset because when her neighbor weedwacked, the string was hitting her fence, Sunday. Window broken: A Richmond resident told deputies she believes the rear window of her SUV was shot out with a BB gun, Saturday. She said when she went outside to get in the car she noticed a hole in her back window. She told her husband, and when he opened the driver’s side door to see if he could find a BB the rear windshield busted out completely.
No supervision: A 5-year-old was playing in the construction zone on state Route 150 in Dillonvale, Saturday. A worker was able to tell deputies what house the child ran to, and deputies noted they were at the same house a few weeks ago because the same child had been caught playing in the construction zone. His mother told deputies she’d last seen him playing in the driveway.

She told deputies she’d found a place to live and was moving in. Her estranged husband said they’d “split up a year ago and now she wants to come and get her belongings,” but admitted they weren’t divorced. While deputies were explaining to them that she is within her rights to go in the residence and get her belongings until their divorce is final. While deputies were speaking with him his girlfriend came out of the residence.
Lesson learned: A Dillonvale man who sold his 2004 Chevy pickup truck two years ago but didn’t take the license plate regrets it, Saturday. He said he learned the plate is still on the vehicle, even though it’s expired, after receiving a bill from the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission for more than $100. He told deputies he has all the paperwork to show he sold the vehicle, and also contacted police in Weirton, where the buyer resides.
