Steubenville Police Juveniles in custody: Two juveniles were taken into custody Saturday after they allegedly tried to rob a man in an alley in the 100 block of North Fourth Street, Sunday. The victim told police the two males “got him to go to an alley … and began assaulting him,” punching him in the face several times and demanding he give them his backpack. He said he was “able to get away, and the two involved began running south on Fourth Street. Steubenville Police Recurring problem: A woman was causing a disturbance on 5th Street at Logan Avenue, but left the area before police could get there, Thursday. Later in the day the same woman was at 5th and Washington streets “yelling at vehicles” and police had to tell her to stop. While talking with her police said they noticed an open container of alcohol in her possession and warned her it’s not permitted, and they poured it out. They said she left the scene on foot. Steubenville Police Up to no good: Someone reported someone camping out in the area of South and Water streets “with visible smoke coming from the wood line,” Tuesday. Police said thick, black smoke was coming from the area and as they approached the source, they found “blankets, a tent and a pile of burning copper wire.” No one was there and police extinguished the fire, which they said appears to have been used to burn the coating off so they could take the wire to the scrapyard.
