Progressives lack message

To the editor:

The United States is the only county in the history of the world not to execute, imprison or banish insurrectionists on the losing side. Confederate military, mostly Democrats, were allowed to assimilate into American society without penalty. They were allowed to honor their heroes, erect statues of them and memorialize them. This reconciliation was allowed to occur under a Republican government, the party with real heart. Can you imagine if Republicans banished the Democratic party after the Civil War? They were allowed to function and grow, (although the KKK and voting against constitutional amendments to allow blacks to be free and able to vote, weren’t the Democrats’ proudest achievements) and become the party it is today.

The progressives leading and supporting the remnants of the Democratic Party have allowed a so-called movement, ANTIFA (Leon Czolgosz wannabees. They’ll have to look this one up) to be the face of their party.

Their ideology is rooted in Marxism. Most still live with mommy and daddy and have degrees that can’t get them a job. They believe in violence in obtaining their goal, and don’t know squat about history. This group, along with the KKK, Black Lives Matter, neo-Nazis are all the same. Their violent behavior should be condemned by all Americans; however, progressives are silent on ANTIFA and Black Lives Matter. Because these groups serve as a militia for them. They share the same philosophy: Win by any means. Progressives, all of a sudden, claim statues and flags are hate speech. What’s next, rap music lyrics?

One would believe that the members of the county’s progressive intelligentsia letter writing and guest columnist committee would be able to put forth arguments worthy of consideration. However, two or three of these uniformed federation of group-thinkers dutifully attach their names to the talking points of the left.

Kathy Antinone’s letter, “Make sure you’re registered to vote” (Aug. 27), is an example of group writing. She wants to force political parties to sit together and compromise on issues, I guess the same way Democrats and Obama did concerning Obamacare. She wouldn’t be advocating this if progressives were in power. She doesn’t want voters purged from voting registers too soon. Will we find deceased people on them? Democrats are good in getting out the underground vote. Even the library removes you from its rolls if you haven’t participated in a number of years. She entertains its your right to Obamacare, and she’s proud to announce she didn’t say “free.” Yet she believes Obamacare is affordable.

About our right to equal education, the writer doesn’t say better education because that would support the voucher system. She moans because her amigos are not in power and begs you to stop gerrymandering. Gerrymandering and non-compromise were fine when progressives were in power. Now they want sympathy. They must distract you from their lack of policies and message.

The best progressive hypocritical statement of month: Cecile Richards, president of Planned Parenthood, stated in defense of DACA, “Every person has right to live.”
