Monroe Mechling

MECHLING, Mr. Monroe J., Jr., of Steubenville, Ohio, passed away Jan. 14, 2017, in Steubenville.

Monroe was born Aug. 26, 1931, in Wheeling, WV, a son of the late Monroe Mechling Sr. and Jane Stollar Mechling.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Lois Edgar.

Surviving are his children, Sharon (William) Fitzgerald of Steubenville, Barbara (Donald) Wisnewski of Pennsylvania, Monroe (Nancy) Mechling of Pennsylvania, a sister, Jane Melc of Sudbury, Mass and a brother, Darryl (Jen) Mechling of Snug Harbor, NC, a brother-in-law, Dan (Conna) Edgar of Elyria, OH.

Cherishing his loving memories are three granddaughters, Ruby (Henry) Hython, Crystal (Calvin) Wicker and Billie (James) Gary and several great-grandchildren.

He was a retired mechanical engineer in the Tin Mill division of Weirton Steel.

He was a true craftsman and a model railroader most of his life, having published a book on “Instructions for the Model Railroader.”

He loved to travel to the West and to many conventions on his craft.

He was a 32nd degree Mason in the Steubenville Brotherhood. Masonic services will be Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017, at 11:30 a.m. at the Vinson Mortuary.
