STEUBENVILLE -- A 40-year executive with Trinity Health System will be retiring on June 30.
Keith Murdock, Trinity's director of community relations, joined the former Ohio Valley Hospital as coordinator of education and training in 1978 and became director of public relations and marketing in 1987. He has served as director of community relations since Trinity formed in 1996. He also has served several years as director of the Trinity Foundation.
Murdock, a native of West Mifflin, Pa., earned his bachelor of science in education with minors in media and literature from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He attended the West Virginia University MBA program.
Murdock's community involvement has been like a second career, and he has served on many boards and committees during his 40 years of service to the hospital. Community organizations Murdock has been involved with include: American Heart Association, board member and president; United Way of Jefferson County, board member, president and campaign chairman; W!ND Team; Historic Fort Steuben, board member and concert planning committee; Ohio Valley Health Center as a founding board member; City of Murals, board member and president; Steubenville Rotary Club, board member and current president-elect; Eastern Gateway Community College 50 by 50 committee; Ohio Hospital Association marketing committee; Voluntary Hospitals of America marketing steering committee; Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce annual dinner planning committee; Steubenville Kiwanis Club; Valley Hospice marketing and fundraising committee; and others.
Murdock has been honored with several national, regional and local awards recognizing his health care marketing and public relations efforts.
"In my 40 years here in Steubenville, I have met some of the most outstanding individuals through my association with health care," Murdock said. "The friends I have made are a true testament to the kindness and openness of the people in the Upper Ohio Valley. I am not leaving the area and plan to continue to serve the local residents in any way I can."

Trinity said in a statement regarding Murdock's retirement that it will evaluate future needs for public relations and marketing functions "and plans to recruit someone to help in this vital area."
