Flu shots offered

By From staff reports 1 min read

WELLSBURG -- The Brooke County Health Department will be offering flu and pneumonia shots to Brooke County residents from 9 a.m.to noon and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.each Wednesday while supplies last.

There is no charge for those covered by Medicare, Medicaid or most insurance. For others, there is a fee of $20 or less based on income and family size, but no one will be turned away for inability to pay.

To reduce the risk of getting or spreading the flu, the health department encourages everyone to avoid crowds, wash their hands frequently, stay home when they are sick, cover their mouths and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing or cough into their sleeves and avoid touching their eyes, nose or mouth.

Residents may ask their doctors about antiviral medications that also may be used to prevent the flu. For other information, call the health department at (304) 737-3665 or the federal Centers for Disease Control at (800) CDC-INFO.

Starting at /week.
