Free community Easter
dinner planned in Wellsburg
WELLSBURG -- A free community Easter dinner is being planned for the community of Wellsburg from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. April 1 at Wellsburg United Methodist Church, located at the corner of 11th and Charles streets in downtown Wellsburg.
The dinner is being prepared by the congregations of the Wellsburg and Franklin United Methodist churches with help from the New Day Christian Center as well as other churches and organizations in the community.
The dinner menu will include ham, scalloped potatoes, salad and rolls, a variety of vegetables, desserts, coffee and iced tea. The dinner is an outreach to the community to serve those who might otherwise not have the opportunity to enjoy an Easter dinner and is free and open to the public.
The team organizing and preparing the dinner is seeking monetary and food donations as well as volunteers to help prepare, cook, serve and clean up. Anyone interested can call or text Rita Smith, event coordinator, at (304) 723-8320.
'Praise Is What I Do'
program Sunday in Weirton
WEIRTON -- Shiloh Apostolic Church, 3000 Weir Ave., will hold a "Praise Is What I Do" program featuring various Ohio Valley talents on Sunday, beginning at 4 p.m.
A free-will offering will be received to benefit the building fund.
Rebecca "Tish" Turner is program coordinator. District Elder D.W. Cummings is the church's pastor.
Easter egg hunt March 31
at Beech Bottom church
BEECH BOTTOM -- The Beech Bottom Community Christian Church, located at Third and High streets, will host an Easter egg on March 31, beginning at 10:30 a.m.
There will be an egg hunt, breakfast, games, prizes and a visit with the Easter Bunny. The event is free and open to the public.
Two Ridges Presbyterian hosts
special Holy Week service
WINTERSVILLE -- Two Ridges Presbyterian Church, 1085 Canton Road, will host a Last Supper re-enactment service beginning at 8 p.m. Thursday.
The presentation, which is open to the public, will involve 12 church members doing special readings; the choir performing special selections; and the serving of communion.
Oakland Presbyterian notes

WEIRTON -- The Oakland Presbyterian Church, Wylie Ridge Road, Weirton, will observe special Easter week services, beginning with the 11 a.m. Palm Sunday service with the sharing of the palms.
The Easter sunrise service will be held April 1, beginning at 7:30 a.m. The men of the church will serve breakfast after the service. Regular Easter Sunday services will be held at 11 a.m.
The church will welcome guest speaker Mark Hoobler, evangelist and missionary, to the pulpit on April 8 for the 11 a.m. service.
Pastor Randy Kreb is the host pastor.
Calvary Community Church
plans annual revival services
STEUBENVILLE -- Calvary Community Missionary Baptist Church, located at 255 S. Seventh St., will hold its annual revival services Thursday through Thursday, beginning each evening at 7 p.m.
Pastor Benjamin Calvert of Mount Carmel Community Baptist Church of Steubenville will be the guest revivalist.
Tuesday is Men's Night, Wednesday is Youth Night, and Thursday is All Saints Night. There will be a time of food and fellowship after each service.

Holy Week services set at
Colliers United Methodist
COLLIERS -- Holy Week services at Colliers United Methodist Church have been announced. They include:
¯ Maundy Thursday service, 6:30 p.m.;
¯ Good Friday service will be a Tenebrae candlelight service, beginning at 7:30 p.m.; and
¯ Easter Sunday, sunrise servce at 6:30 a.m. on the hill overlooking the church. Those interested in participating can meet in the church parking at 6:15 a.m. to walk the path up the hill together. A light breakfast will be served after the service.
¯ The church also will present its Easter cantata, "In Christ Alone," during the Easter Sunday service April 1 at 9:30 am.
The church is located at 318 Pennsylvania Ave., Colliers.
Kum Joyne Us Class plans
mother-daughter banquet
STEUBENVILLE -- The Kum Joyne Us Class of Kolmont Church held its regular meeting on March 2 in the fellowship hall with seven members and one guest attending.
A covered-dish dinner was served. Maureen Black said the blessing for the meal.
Shirley McCartney led devotions on riches, citing the differences between worldly riches and eternal ones. She read several verses of scripture showing how our worldly riches will someday perish, but eternal riches won't. Sara Peeler and Maureen Black read different passages to illustrate that.
McCartney gave a small stuffed animal, a camel, to one member and then read "Ruby the Ritzy Camel." Any time she said Ruby, Ritzy or camel, the camel was passed around the table. The last person holding the camel received a prize.
Reports were given by Sharlene Wade, Alice Brandon, Ruby Grimes and Sara Peeler.
Sara Peeler gave an update on the mother-daughter banquet to be held May 4. A discussion was held on the final preparations.
Peeler held the auction.
The next meeting will be held April 6.
Greek Easter bake sale
at All Saints in Weirton
WEIRTON -- A Greek Easter bake sale presented by All Saints Greek Orthodox Church's Philoptochos Society is scheduled for Thursday at Hellenic Memorial Hall, 3528 West St.
The sale will run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., unless it is sold out earlier.
Baked goods include Greek sweet Easter bread for $8, and a dozen koulourakia (twist cookies) for $6. Pre-orders will not be available.
Proceeds benefit multiple charities.
Annual foot-washing service
at Urban Mission Thursday
STEUBENVILLE -- Urban Mission Ministries will host its annual foot-washing service and distribution of toiletry items from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday at the mission, located at 301 N. Fifth St.

Smithfield Church Council
continues special services
SMITHFIELD -- The Smithfield Church Council is continuing its Lenten evening services with the final one planned for Sunday.
It will be held at 7 p.m. at Smithfield Friends Church with the Rev. Robert Hooker of Smithfield UMC as guest speaker. Refreshments will be provided following the service.
The Good Friday service will be held Friday at Schaffer Chapel, beginning at 3 p.m.
