Sunday ‘Daniel Plan’ study includes ‘faith, food, fitness, focus, friends’

RICHMOND — A local woman committed to healthy eating and exercise will be leading a study series on “The Daniel Plan,” beginning at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Richmond United Methodist Church located at 112 S. Sugar St. It is open to the public.

Marci Snyder-Crawford, a personal trainer and exercise director at the YMCA in Calcutta and East Liverpool, explained “The Daniel Plan” is “framed around the essentials of faith, food, fitness, focus and friends — life areas that all work together to restore and sustain your long-term health. Faith is the foundation with God as the source of the power and the energy behind all transformational change.”

“I am a busy mom of two boys. I am a Christian, who loves eating healthy and exercise,” said Snyder-Crawford, who has a bachelor’s degree in health and psychology.

“I have always wanted to collaborate my love for health and fitness, and my love for our Christ, and with ‘The Daniel Plan,’ I will be able to do that,” she said.

A walking element to the program will be discussed, and recipes and samples are planned.

Although there’s no need to register, calls of interest to the church office at (740) 765-4957 would be appreciated. Walk-ins to the series, geared to those 16 and older, are welcomed.

Snyder-Crawford explained she is motivated to lead the series “because as a trainer I see how many people’s health is at risk because of their diet and weight. I want to help all. I felt like God has bigger things for me. He wants me to reach out to people, and maybe this is my way.”

“My main goal is to make our community healthier spiritually and physically. I have lost two people this month who had diabetes and did not change their eating habits and lost their lives. It is sad — God gave us life, and our body. W e need to take care of them. So let’s all do it as a community, as Christians. We have God, as our biggest supporter.

She explained the plan is not a diet but a healthy lifestyle “based on the Old Testament story of Daniel, who rejected the king’s rich food in order to honor God’s best for him and his friends.”

Crawford can be contacted at (740) 381-5452.
