CENTRAL SWEEPS ROSECRANS
STEUBENVILLE – The Catholic Central volleyball team earned a sweep of Bishop Roseceans on Saturday for a season sweep of the Bishops.
Regan Meek had 12 kills, 12 digs and three aces, Avi Bressler had 20 assists, Corina Brem had 16 digs and three aces and Gianna Lemal had two blocks, two aces and two kills.
The Crusaders improve to 6-5 ahead of hosting Weir High on Tuesday evening.
BIG RED TOPS INDIAN CREEK
WINTERSVILLE – The Big Red volleyball team made it back-to-back wins and a season sweep of Indian Creek on Saturday with four-set win on the road.
Big Red by scores of 25-11, 20-25, 25-23, 25-23.
Stuebenville is now 8-4 and hosts Toronto on Tuesday. Creek (1-11) travels to Harrison Central today.
GIRLS SOCCER
RED RIDERS BLANK RAVENSWOOD
WEIRTON – Giana Siegel tallied four goals leading the Weir girls’ soccer team to a 5-0 victory against Ravenswood Saturday afternoon up at Jimmy Carey Stadium.
Kameryn Mallas also collected a goal for the Red Riders (2-6-2).
Ryann Jeter recorded two assists for the hosts, while Elli Noel and Leila Weinthal each delivered one.
Bella Weber made two saves in goal for the victors.
Emily Andrade made 15 saves for the Red Devils (6-3).
Weir is scheduled to play East Liverpool Tuesday night at home in the second game of a boys’ and girls’ doubleheader. The Weir boys are slated to play University at 6 p.m. with the girls’ game to follow.
