BIG RED WINS ON SENIOR DAY
STEUBENVILLE – The Big Red golf team honored its seniors with a pair of victories, sweeping a nine-hole tri-match at home at Steubenville Country Club on senior day.
Big Red fired a team score of 164, 20 strokes better than Indian Creek and 29 ahead of Edison.
Big Red’s three seniors, Andrew Matzorkis, Jaggar Rawson and Noah Kokiko, each shot a score of 40 to lead the way to the victory.
“I could not be more proud of Andrew, Jaggar and Noah for everything they have accomplished throughout their careers,” Big Red head coach Joe Garay said. “We could not have asked for a better group to lead our program. It was especially special to see our seniors go out with a win in their last match at Steubenville Country Club.
“I am honored to have had the opportunity to be their coach and watch them grow as golfers and young men. We’re not done yet.”
Also for Big Red, Gino Scaffidi fired a 44, Patrick Jenkins a 47 and Max Henderson a 57.
Indian Creek’s Riley Guskea led the way overall, earning match medalist with an even-par score of 36.
Big Red is now 21-9 overall on the season and closes the regular season on the road in a tri against Harrison Central and John Glenn Wednesday at Cadiz Country Club before the OVAC tournament on Thursday and sectionals Monday begin the post season.
WEIR TOPS OAK GLEN, BROOKE
WEIRTON -- The Red Riders hosted the Golden Bears and Bruins on Monday, Weir posting a 162 team score to edge out Oak Glen (165) and Brooke (174).
Weir's Evan Baker was match medalist, shooting even with a 36. Aiden Ferguson carded a 40, Guy Meneely carded a 41, and Landon Donaldson a 45 to find the Red Riders' team total.
Gannon Cline led Oak Glen with a 37. Max Malinky led Brooke with a 39.
Next up for the Red Riders is a duel against East Liverpool on Wednesday at East Liverpool Country Club.

EDISON BLANKS CREEK FOR SEASON SWEEP
RICHMOND – The Edison boys soccer team completed a season sweep of rival Indian Creek with a 6-0 victory on Monday at the Edison Unified Sports Complex.
The Wildcats (2-4-2) also won the first meeting with Redskins (0-6) in Wintersville, 5-0, earlier in the season.
Edison’s Caleb Gugala had a hat trick, and Noah Lucas, Beckett Dopp and Gage Hennis all had a goal a piece.
The Wildcats visit Caldwell on Thursday.
